Hello Friends of BRMAA - We at the Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association (BRMAA) have been so appreciative of the support shown by our friends and community ...over the last few months during this difficult time for us all. Unfortunately, we at BRMAA have had to make another extremely difficult decision and we will be canceling our 2020 Fall Arts in the Park festival, scheduled for October 10 & 11 in the Downtown Blue Ridge City Park, due to the public health concerns and safety surrounding Covid-19. We at BRMAA continue to prioritize the health and safety of our volunteers, artists and community and this decision was a very difficult one to make as we hoped to provide a much needed creative event for our community this Fall. Our board, staff and local community stakeholders have been involved in this process as we navigated state and local government safety regulations. Arts in the Park has been one of the longest running and premiere fine arts and craft festivals in our area and serves not only as an economical catalyst for our participating artists, vendors, and local businesses, but also serves as the largest source of operational funding income for BRMAA, a non-profit Arts organization. Canceling this event significantly impacts our organization and its operations, which is even more disheartening in our 40th anniversary year. We hope our community will continue to support BRMAA and the arts during this time either online or at the Art Center. If you are interested in making a donation to BRMAA and supporting our organization, please visit www.BlueRidgeArtsinthePark.com to help donate your Fall Arts in the Park gate fee. Every little bit helps us to continue our mission of providing opportunities in the realm of the Arts for our community and the individual. The Arts in the Park festivals have flourished for the last four decades because of the incredible artists, partners, volunteers, and community members that have supported our efforts to provide opportunities for the Arts to thrive for our tri-state region. With that same spirit of providing opportunities in the Arts, we are looking forward to our Spring 2021 festival and exploring our online options for our Fall artists and vendors this year. We will be sending further information on a virtual Fall festival option via our website and social media in the next few weeks. All Fall Arts in the Park artists will be notified directly with further information and details on how we will proceed with our online option. The Arts and artists have always served as a voice and leading the way during times of crisis and we hope to stand strong with our artists to continue the necessary work of the Arts. As author and illustrator Mo Willems stated recently, "Science will get us out of this, but the Arts is what will get us through this." Stay well and we look forward to continuing to promote our artists and community in every way creatively possible. Sincerely, Nichole Potzauf Executive Director
