Santa has finished reading all of the letters from Santa's Mail Box. There were 81 letters! For everyone who included a mailing address on their letter, they will be receiving a reply from the North Pole in a few days. Thank you to everyone who participated this year. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all.

Today's the day! So many things going on in our little town - artisan market, parade, tree lighting and a movie! Whew! That should be enough to keep everyone busy and in the holiday spirit! And, while you are in Harlem partaking in all of this fun, don't forget to stop at the very beautiful Santa's mail box (in front of the museum) and mail your letter to Santa! I have heard that there are lots of elves waiting in the wings ready to open your letters and pass them along to the big guy. He will answer each and every one!

It's that time of year!

Eleven years ago my husband and I were looking for a community where we could buy a home. We looked at all of the usual places, Evans, Grovetown, Appling, but something drew me to Harlem. It was the downtown - there WAS one. A downtown full of empty store fronts to be sure, but I had hopes that someday it would be a great place to shop, eat, well, you get it. And slowly, it started to happen. First one business, then another... Suddenly if you were downtown it was diffic...ult to find a parking place. Frustrating, maybe, but pretty great! And then the unthinkable happened. Last March. Everything closed. I was so afraid that the businesses that we loved were never going to open again. But, they did. And today we get a chance to honor those businesses by participating in Small Business Saturday! Stop in, say hello, say thank you! Let them know that they have not been forgotten. Let them know that we love them more than ever! BUY SOMETHING! It's a lot more fun to buy something from Taylor or Deb than it is Jeff Bezos! This is your chance to support your community! See you there!

Starting next week, schools and communities across the nation will join forces to promote awareness and help prevent bullying. One question to ask yourself when identifying bullying is "is it mean, rude or bullying?" To meet the criteria, of bullying it has to be repeated and intentional. There are a variety of websites on bullying and preventing it. STOMPOutBullying.org, PACER.org and Youth.gov are all great resources for prevention of bullying. One of the fastest area...s of bullying (no surprise) is cyber bullying - bullying through social media, texting and posting pictures. With so many students attending school remotely these days, a new avenue for bullies has appeared. Students are able to write inappropriate and defamatory remarks in an open, online classroom forum. Wear blue on October 5th to show that you are standing against bullying! This year's theme is "kind vibes only." #BlueUp
