Our fifth-grade thespians are prepping to open our HIES production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. This classic Shakespearean comedy involves four interconnecting plots, centered around the theme of love. In this original adaptation, dance and popular music are woven into the plot to help tell the story in a fun and unique way. And, for the first time ever, our fifth-grade play will have a live orchestra featuring our very own HIES music faculty! Show dates are April 20 and Apr...il 22 at 6 p.m. in the Middle School circle. Tickets will be on sale the week of the show during Lower School lunch outside of the Parish Hall dining room. Ending our season will be The Fantasticks, which tells an allegorical story loosely based on the 1894 play The Romancers by Rostand, with allusions to Pyramus and Thisbe, Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Elixir of Love. The comic yet moving plot concerns two neighboring parents who trick their children into falling in love by pretending to feud. This Middle School/Upper School musical will be April 28 and 29 at 7 p.m. in the Middle Circle. Tickets will be on sale from 7:30-8 a.m. in the Middle School lobby and during Upper School lunch the week of the show. For a live stream link for either production, email [email protected].

Happy Halloween from the Class of 2021!

The school's power has been fully restored, making it possible for us to have school tomorrow. It has been a harrowing and challenging 24 hours with the storm, the wind damage and the power outages, which are still affecting many of you. The school will give grace and looks forward to welcoming everyone back tomorrow morning. It will be a festive day for many of our students on this Halloween eve and a beautiful day for all at The 805.

Thank you to everyone who answered HIGBY’s roar and made #HIESGivingDay a success by going #AllPawsIn to support the school we all love. Your generosity and commitment to HIES completely blew through the goal and together we were unstoppable! Thank you, Golden Bears, for an incredible first-ever HIES Giving Day!

Due to power outages at the school and throughout the community, HIES will be closed today. Remote learning will also be canceled.

HIES plans to open school tomorrow morning at its regularly scheduled time. We are monitoring the weather and conditions on the ground closely. Should conditions prove too dangerous for travel, or should HIES lose power, we will make the call to either close school or push our opening back. An alert will go out early tomorrow morning with details if that's the case.
