No one promised this life on our shared Earthly plane would be easy. Somewhere along the way, we grow to realize it is worth it! Life, love, loss, grief, and triumphs are just a few of the adjectives in the mix that makes our lives precious. The multitude of feelings that make us human are immune to none. Hope and faith are the eternal springboards to bounce off of when we feel sadness, loneliness, and grief. We can summon all of the many ideas & emotions of hope & faith into... the present moment. By doing this, we will remember our purpose. Joy is our birthright. In the perpetual quest for happiness, life sometimes gets messy. Our relationships change, the idea of who we are changes, we lose loved ones, bridges collapse; but new ones are built. Let us not subscribe to the idea that life is a vale of tears. The hope is that we all can open our eyes to the gifts around us today. Let us not be weary, instead let us be awakened to the fact that better days are upon us. We are loved. We are cherished. We are spiritual beings having a human experience. Spread love, gratitude and kindness today; for we never know what the person beside us on this journey of life is experiencing. See more

Good morning friends and family! Many people do not realize that hospice can actually extend the amount of time our loved ones spend with us! Is this true in every instance? It is not, however it is in many. Something beautiful transpires when curative measures are stopped and comfort measures are allowed in. At the end of any given day, none of us have a crystal ball. Everything is by divine appointment! From our first breath until our last, we live by the rules of the Great... Mystery. One of our ultimate goals at Home Hospice of Georgia is to educate as many people as possible that hospice does not spell the end. Our multidisciplinary team provides a holistic approach to treating the person as a whole. We do not treat the disease, we facilitate healing for the person. When this beautiful arrangement is able to flourish, our patients often feel better, perk up, and are able to have meaningful moments with family and friends. These moments may not have been possible otherwise! Our hospice philosophy and our team are humbled and honored to be participants in these priceless moments. We hope you all have a terrific Monday and week! See more

Good morning friends and family! What does a hospice diagnosis mean? Well, it means many things. Some of those things are heart warming. Which may sound odd. Allow us to explain! Entering into our hospice program allows for a golden opportunity. That being, time & space to hold the most important conversations we will ever have. Conversations with our loved ones that many are not afforded for various reasons. We get to share our hopes, dreams, fears, and most importantly we g...et to give & receive love. Every moment becomes more meaningful & more precious than the last. This is a sacred time that is filled with gifts between patients and their loved ones. We can go gently into our great goodnight with nothing left unresolved and nothing left unsaid. Our hospice team cares deeply about facilitating these outstanding experiences for our patients and their families. We know this time comes with fear and uncertainty. We are dedicated to helping others achieve hope and peace! We appreciate all of you and hope your Wednesday is blessed & bathed in love & light. See more

Happy Tuesday friends and family! We hope you enjoy this beautiful and thought provoking quote. This universal truth can lend our hearts a feeling of peace. When grief seems insurmountable, it’s helpful to remember that all endings are but new & beautiful beginnings. Sometimes endings are born into the Great Mystery. When a loss of a loved one occurs - it can shake our very being and we feel confused and deeply saddened. In time, we can infuse ourselves with the hope that our loved one has simply slipped into the next room. We can rejoice in our memories and behold in the assurance that we will see them again! I hope we all can marvel today and everyday of the cyclical nature of life and love. Have a blessed day and stay dry if you venture outdoors in Atlanta today!

Home Hospice of Georgia has been given the honor and privilege to share with the world the story of Alease Anderson. We doubt we could ever truly give an adequate testimony this beautiful soul and her family deserve! Alease was one of our patients who passed into her Kingdom recently. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. This one is worth more. This photo was shared to our team by daughter Michelle. One of the most beautiful and final moments of Alease and her grands...on sharing a smile. We like to think they are also sharing big secrets that only they know! We have had the honor of getting to know Alease’s family and learning more about her. And what a big, full, and loving family that is! Alease had adopted many children throughout her time on this Earth. Over 7! This is a true testament to her bigger than life heart. She gave birth to Michelle and the rest of the children she birthed through her love and dedication. They were all hers. Her most favorite thing to do was cook Sunday dinner. Her cooking was out of this world, but more than that she knew that family mealtime meant an atmosphere of everybody she loved being together. She knew the family meals were a time of joy, communication, sometimes even bickering, and love. She also enjoyed knitting blankets for everyone that she knew and that means everyone! She also loved a good casino trip. She was kind, loving, and compassionate to the core. The amount of people that benefited from her love was endless. The neighbors always looked forward to seeing her walking her precious dog - Teddy! The guidance and wisdom of Alease’s soul will touch anyone who ever came in contact with her forever. We leave you with a direct quote from her family - She gathered us all and built a local family to fill a void that neither of us may have even known we had, and she created and fostered an everlasting bond of siblings who now have each other’s love and support within an arm’s reach. May you Rest In Peace. We love you and your family and are beyond honored to have helped walk Alease home. See more

Happy Friday family! We hope you all are enjoying this beautiful afternoon. We are wrapping this weeks myth busters up with this common misconception. Many people assume that hospice is a place. Hospice is a philosophy and a movement, not so much of a physical place. Home Hospice of Georgia provides hospice services anywhere the patient and their family call home. This can be at a personal residence, skilled nursing unit, assisted living facility, or a personal care home. ...There are also inpatient hospice facilities available. One of the many wonderful qualities of hospice is that the philosophy & care is provided where the patient is most comfortable. At home and with their loved ones! Gone are the days of a cold and lonely hospital setting. Hospice is here to make sure of that. We are here to make sure of that! We hope you have enjoyed the series this week and have learned more right along with us. Have a blessed weekend! See more

Happy Wednesday! Join with us as we continue our theme of dispelling common hospice myths! Today’s myth is very near & dear to our hearts at Home Hospice of Georgia. Your entire family becomes ours and each family leaves a special mark on our entire team that can never be erased. Yes, hospice is about caring for the patient. Hospice is also all encompassing as we also care for & provide support to families, caregivers, and friends. Hospice is holistic on all levels. The whole... picture of the patient would have missing parts without their loved ones. After all, during any time of the scheme of our lives- it’s our relationships that create life, love, fullness, mystery, growth, and hope. This is not overlooked at the time of a hospice diagnosis. In fact, it is focused on and celebrated! When your family chooses Home Hospice of Georgia, the whole family will always benefit. Many people do not know that the services of hospice do not end when the patient passes. Hospice provides support and education to the family for long afterwards. Hospice is a beautiful gift that is given not only to your loved one, but the whole family. See more

Happy Hospice Myth Monday family! It’s a common misconception that the act of inviting hospice care into your loved one’d life also means inviting an earlier death. This is a belief I hope that everyone can discard. It is not a truth to hold onto. Hospice does not hasten death. We all leave this Earth the moment we are supposed to. Not a second more nor a second less. Remarkable things when the focus is taken off of curative treatments and transferred to comfort measures. A...t it’s very essence- this is Hospice. Removing the toll of stress that treatments, doctor visits, and emergency room visits takes on a person is vital. Vital to comfort in all areas. Physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Hospice is a beautiful gift. An act of love and service. Home Hospice of Georgia is continually humbled and honored that our patients and families share space with us. See more

This is one of the biggest hospice myths that the general public has. Accepting a referral to hospice does not mean giving up! It means allowing the space for emotional and spiritual well-being. It means freedom from pain. It means staying and remaining comfortable in the place you call home. It means trusting your Higher Power as well as trusting your unique process. Hospice is not the end. Hospice is the beginning of a beautiful and priceless experience. Many people do not ...realize that you can come off of hospice. Any time you want. We value personal autonomy first & foremost. Many people are unaware that patients leave hospice because they get better, not worse. An almost magical occurrence happens when you become dedicated to comfort measures rather than curative ones. Many people far extend the six months or less prognosis at the time of a hospice referral. Does everybody? Of course not. However, not one of us claims to truly know when it is time for another to leave this earthly plane. Until then, our outstanding team is here to love, help, serve, and facilitate spiritual & emotional healing. Stay with us over the next few weeks as we explore more common hospice myths. Let’s all learn together for the greater good of humanity and our loved ones. Stay tuned for our first social media contest with prizes in the coming days as well! Thank you to our faithful followers. We hope to discover more of you as we all travel the road of happy destiny! See more

Grief arrives in unexpected and even expected ways to each of us. It is a fact of human life that we all will experience the waves of grief. If you think about it, grief is even experienced daily at the hand of what we perceive as tiny losses. It is a passage that none of us are exempt from. When the loss of a loved one happens, grief is multiplied into a mountain that can appear insurmountable. The team at Home Hospice of Georgia firmly believes that where there was once gre...at love - there is deep grief. We are trained in the sad yet absolutely beautiful art of grief. We stay with our families after their loved one has passed for several months and offer our support and love! The word healing takes on many different forms and meanings. Sometimes to heal means to move into total acceptance of wherever we are. Healing not only takes place in the body, but also in the heart, mind, and soul. Relationships are mended and healing takes place. Many people might not associate healing with hospice. That could not be further from the truth. Let us explain. When a physician as well as a team of medical experts conclude that if an illness runs its natural c...ourse, the patient will have 6 months or less to live. This is when the team at Home Hospice of Georgia steps in. We facilitate an atmosphere of healing. Healing the mind, heart, spirit, relationships and more! No one has a crystal ball. We do not know when the hour arrives that anyone is called home. Until then we focus on healing, living life to the absolute fullest, and love. Our multidisciplinary team values every moment we are invited into our patients and their families home and hearts. There is no greater or more sacred work. Even if a cure is not an option, healing always is. See more
