Cobb EMC Update: Power Restoration Underway Outage Update: ... We’ve experienced substantial damage to parts of our system, but our crews are making progress and have restored power to more than 54,000 homes. Currently, about 38,000 members are without power. Some of the hardest-hit subdivisions and single homes may experience extended outages, possibly lasting until Friday or Saturday. This amount of damage makes restoration times longer than normal. We appreciate your patience. Extended outages may occur: Because of the extent of damage to our system, members may experience extended outages. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by extended outages. Tropical Storm Zeta’s heavy winds and rain caused our system's worst outage since Winter Storm Benji in 2017. Our linemen are some of the best in the business, and they won’t stop working until every member is restored. Our outage restoration process: We know that many of you are frustrated that your power isn’t back on yet, or that you see power in some places but wonder why haven’t we gotten to your home yet. After a storm of this magnitude, we have to carefully repair the damage to our network. Watch our video to see our process for restoring power. First, we prioritize primary circuits (main roads) that feed to the secondary circuits (neighborhoods). When we repair a primary circuit, undamaged secondary circuits are restored. Damaged secondary circuits, such as your neighborhood, may need further work (broken poles, trees on lines). We divided our teams into 4 quadrants to cover the entirety of our service territory so that everyone gets equal priority. We also have additional crews coming in from around the southeast to help us get everyone’s power back on as soon as possible. This was a massive storm, and it will take some time to restore the damage.
