April is Occupational Therapy Month! Common occupational therapy interventions include helping children with disabilities gain the ability to fully participate in school and social situations, helping individuals recover from injuries to regain skills, and supporting older adults experiencing physical and cognitive changes. Jefferson Hospital offers OT services in our Louisville and Wrens Rehabilitation Centers. Talk with your referring physician about receiving occupational therapy at one of Jefferson Hospital's rehabilitation locations. Jefferson Hospital also offers cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, physical therapy and speech therapy. We strive to provide our rehabilitation patients convenient, one-on-one treatment. Contact our Louisville location by calling (478) 253-4325 or our Wrens location at (706) 547-7147.
Fact: Will a COVID-19 vaccination protect me from getting sick with COVID-19? Yes. COVID-19 vaccination works by teaching your immune system how to recognize and fight the virus that causes COVID-19, and this protects you from getting sick with COVID-19.... Being protected from getting sick is important because even though many people with COVID-19 have only a mild illness, others may get a severe illness, have long-term health effects, or even die. There is no way to know how COVID-19 will affect you, even if you don’t have an increased risk of developing severe complications. Learn more about how COVID-19 vaccines work. Jefferson Hospital encourages you to receive your COVID-19 vaccine upon eligibility. Please consult with your primary care provider regarding questions and concerns. The information above was gathered from the CDC at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavir/2019-ncov/vaccines/facts.html.
There's a lot of activity going on at Jefferson Hospital. Over the next several months we will be working through a roof replacement process for the entire facility. This will improve the overall environment of our facility and increase our ability to continue to serve Jefferson and surrounding counties with quality healthcare.

This week is Cardiac Rehabilitation Week. Jefferson Hospital would like to recognize Cole Moye for his dedication to serving our cardiac rehabilitation patients with excellent care. Cardiac rehabilitation benefits patients in many ways by reducing the chances of being re-hospitalized, helping patients recover their strength, and building skills in managing medications and activities.

We are continuing to make progress in the north wing with the support of the Rural Hospital Tax Credit Program and the Rural Hospital Stabilization Grant. The renovated space will house a 10-bed adult behavioral health unit and intensive outpatient behavioral health program. We are very excited to be able to offer these services to Jefferson and the surrounding area in the near future.
