SMALL BUSINESS SCAM ALERT: Hey, all of you Georgia small business owners...I'm sure you're all on top of annual registrations for 2021. But....... I just opened an apparent SCAM letter (actual mail letter. NOT e-mail) from something called C.F.S. They asked for $150.00 filing fee for the year 2021. So I knew right away that it was a scam because for my L.L.C. the yearly filing fee is $50.00 and is not accepted before January 1st of the appropriate year. Anyways...Be on the look out for this apparent SCAM. I called the appropriate government agency and was told that there is already an investigation on going. Be careful...The form looks real enough and had all of my related business information correct!

Today I emailed a City Alderman and Buddy Carter's Office and a local media personality about my Jeff's Pedicab situation. I've invited them to come ride in my ...pedicab with me and see first hand the practical applications of the city laws that bind me. If you have recommendations as to who might be able to assist me in this fight please send me their info. I need help in this.

The end of Jeff's Pedicab...? I was scheduled to have my Jeff's Pedicab inspected tomorrow by the city. I have cancelled that inspection.... Unfortunately I see no reason to start the 2021 inspection-registration process when it seems likely that the city is going to shut my business down. At which time I will be un-employed. Not because there is no demand for my business. Not because I am not capable of running the business and making enough money at it. But because the I won't fall in line and play the game. I have done nothing wrong. I simply am refusing to capitulate to the unjust laws that they are attempting to force me to adhere to. I am continuing the fight. Jail/Prison scares me

Damn. This is stressful. I am very good at my job. Jeff's Pedicab is fun and successful. I hope that I am over-reacting but I live in daily fear that Savannah... is going to close my business because: Amongst other things the city that says that: 1) If I want to give tours in my pedicab that I have to register with them as a tourism company as opposed to only being a transportation company. I've agreed to do this. But: a) They demand that I give them a specific tour route(s). I WILL NOT! How is that even practical? And what purpose does that mandate serve? b) They mandate that clients of tourism vehicles may only exit the vehicle at predetermined and specified stops! NO!!! I'm not just randomly dropping clients off in the middle of the street! Who is endangered by my taking my clients to Parkers? Or to a Bar/Restaurant, or to any place where they may have to use a bathroom? Or if they want to get out and take pictures? Or maybe after an hour in a pedicab they want to get out and stretch? DAMN!!! c) They mandate that there can not be more that 2 tourism vehicles in any one street segment or square at one time? WTF??? How is that even possible in the Historic District? Anyways: I am not going to capitulate. I am going to fight. I AM ALREADY FIGHTING And I hope that it does not come down to the city taking my business away from me...

On Thursday my first ride (only about 5 minutes into my shift) on Jeff's Pedicab paid me 80% of my financial target for a ride that took 20% of the time I had a...llotted to earn the full amount! Then, when I dropped them off at a restaurant that I had selected for them, a friend of mine from the establishment came outside and gave me an iced tea. Then, A local food tour guide gave me an Alligator Slider from the previous stop on his tour! And, On Wednesday: I had two clients Buckle Up For Safety and use my pedicab's seatbelt!

Tomorrow the Port of Savannah will welcome the CMA CGM Brazil. It will be the largest ship to call on the East Coast. She is underway from Norfolk and should be... a the buoy off Tybee at 0630am in Friday (tomorrow). It will take her about 3+ hours transit time. She should be at the bridge about 09:30 or so. Check out one of Savannah Cams starting from Tybee until she docks at GPA Garden City terminal. FYI, she will have 15,000 + containers onboard. Savannah Cams

#OnThisDayinHistory in 1779, French Commander Count Charles Henri d’Estaing demanded British General Augustine Prevost surrender Savannah from British control. ...Earlier in September, Revolutionary forces landed south of Savannah on the Vernon River and marched north toward the city. After Prevost declined to surrender, both armies began to strengthen their positions and prepare for open siege and bombardment, which began on October 8. Written accounts by those present provide us with a better understanding of what it must have been like to live during the battle. Anne Francoise Marguerite Grand, wife of General Prevost, penned the following account while seeking safety from the bombs for her children: I write these lines, in the bottom of a dark cellar, lighted only by the faint glimmering of a lamp. I had scarcely finished writing before I heard a frightful noise. It is the fall of a bomb which has shaken the weak edifice in which we are, crushed the neighboring house, and set on fire the casks of spirituous liquors. I went out of the cellar and tremblingly traversed part of the town. without meeting with any accident, we arrived at the borders of the river, near a sandy bank. Here I laid down with my children and I still watched by them. Much more is M. Prevost to be pitied who, from his camp, sees the house on fire in which he supposes his wife and children to be, and is prevented from affording them any succor. (Madame Prevost October 1779. Savannah to M. de la Fite Paris). The Siege of Savannah ended on October 20 with the retreat of the allied forces, and Savannah was still held by the British. With more than 1,000 casualties, the siege is considered the second bloodiest battle of the American Revolutionary War. I have no pain today after driving Jeff's Pedicab for the first time in over 2 weeks on Saturday Night (and 2.5 hours into Sunday a.m.!) but I do still have som...e residual stiffness. So I'm waiting until Tuesday to go at again. Saturday was fun. The money was better than expected. But I was way far from in good pedicab shape. I needed lots more rest between rides then usual. And instead of cruising around the city I parked in high traffic areas and waited for rides to come to me. Being careful kinda sucks, but I ain't 51 years old anymore.

An abundance of caution. It's now 10 days since I rolled my ankle. And while I have no day to day life issues with it, pedaling Jeff's Pedicab for 8 hours is po...tentially a lot harder on my foot/ankle/shin than I want to be. So...Another day off. And so far no work since last Wednesday. I'm definitely going with long-term considerations. I don't want to go to work, make things worse, and end up not working for the entire month. Anyways...I've been saying every day for the last several that tomorrow is the day. But it may be much later next week. Wow...I'm really glad that I have innate flexibility. I'm not fragile. The ankle rolled hard. But here I am, mostly healthy and sexy and... ...And I'm about to read a couple of chapters in one of two books I own about James Edward Oglethorpe. I expect that the work that I do while not actually on the cab will pay off when I am. It almost always does (-:

When you're a historic police department, you never know what you might find. Yesterday we came across this old police equipment catalog. We can't find a year o...n it, but it's obviously very old. Surprisingly it's also in pretty good condition. There's only one of two pages where one of the ads was cut out. Hey, Darley Company, can we still order a chief's uniform for $34.95 or how about some of the revolvers for under $30? PM us and we'll send you the chief's measurements!

#OnThisDayInHistory in 1889 author and poet Conrad Aiken was born in Savannah in a rowhouse on Oglethorpe Avenue. Aiken had a tragic childhood, orphaned at the ...age of 11 when his father killed his mother and then committed suicide. Young Conrad then lived with his great aunt in Massachusetts, before graduating from Harvard in 1912. He published his first collection of poetry, Earth Triumphant, in 1914, which launched his career. Much of Aiken’s work is highly introspective, reflecting an interest in psychoanalysis, and he is known for his mastery of interior monologue. Aiken was extremely prolific, writing over 50 works, including poetry, fiction, and plays. In 1930, Aiken won a Pulitzer Prize for his Selected Poems, becoming the first Georgian to win a Pulitzer for poetry. From 1950-1952, he served as Poetry Consultant to the Library of Congress, now known as the U.S. Poet Laureate, and Governor Jimmy Carter appointed him Poet Laureate of the State of Georgia. Aiken spent the final years of his life in Savannah, dying on August 17, 1973. He is buried in Bonaventure Cemetery. Fiction: Vampires with Covid-19? I did a couple of quick internet searches and did not find Vampire Covid-19 stories )-: I'm taking another day off from work be...cause of my rolled ankle. Today most of the pain is gone but just putting my left foot through some simulated pedaling brought about some "discomfort" more than pain in the ankle. And there still is a little pain on top of the foot. So, another day off... ...Which brings me back to Vampires. You'd think somebody was writing Covid into vampire stories. That's what I want to do with part of my non-working day today: Read Covid-19 Vampire stories! Anybody got a suggestion? Or maybe I should write one myself... ...Once upon a time, in a world where the human governments had run amok, Vampires dined in luxury...

Hi I am three days into recovering from rolling my foot on Wednesday night. And this Saturday a.m. it still just ain't right.... Between popping a half-dozen ibuprofen in order to make a few dollars and taking a day off to bring about health it's an easy choice. I'M TAKIN' THE SATURDAY OFF! I've got a couple of ideas as to what Imma gonna do...(-: See you tomorrow maybe? Jeff

I rolled my left ankle on Wednesday night. Pain on the outside edge and the top of my foot, my ankle, shin, a little bit in the left knee, and one toe. There i...s no swelling and no discoloration but I couldn't walk on Wednesday night/Thursday early a.m. (And crawling really sucked. I had to do it while lying down on my back!) Now on Friday a.m. the pain is way way down (gone in the shin and knee) and while I walk with a limp it really ain't all that bad. However...I took yesterday and today off from work. I think I'll be back to work on Saturday but if I've even got a little bit of doubt I'm going to take another day off and let it heel. So...what do I do on a Saturday in Savannah if I am not working and semi-mobile at best....?

I'm curious as to the overall general health of our population. I've struggled a lot over the last three or so years with my weight. I got to a little over 220 ...pounds at 5'8" and 58 years of age. The weight effected so much of life. My feet hurt. My joints hurt. I couldn't find a comfortable position to sleep in. Even my job was hurt. My endurance went way down. My recovery time increased. The frequency and duration of my rest stops increased dramatically. All of which meant my income went WAY WAY down. For those of you who do not know I own/operate Jeff's Pedicab) in Savannah Georgia. And eating shitty food can be expensive. I'd go through a party sized bag of potato chips in 2 days! I gobbled down frozen pizzas as snacks! I ate whole 6 packs of Klondike bars on single days. And the grape juice and orange juice? And the constant sweet teas!!! WOW did I sugar rush. O.K...and this more than a little gross...I very frequently had under the belly-roll-flap sweat. Anyways..A good thing has come out of the CURRENT???( as opposed to permanent?) government restrictions... I've needed to budget my money. So I've started eating better and eating less. And I feel a little better. And I'm thinking I can get even better still, and that I can maintain it this time... May you my facebook friends have a happy healthy day (-:

It is way too weather-prohibitive for me to work Jeff's Pedicab today. So instead I offer this solution-suggestion to a current social-issue. If the phrase "Master" bedroom is to be removed from society, I suggest the phrase "Love Shack" as a wonderful alternative option!

Twenty-five months into owner/operator and this is my first ride on my first day (Tuesday June 2nd, 2020) of my first "full time" month driving Jeff's Pedicab!
