J&J Pharmacy and Gifts

Long post but, Just wanted to share... We arrived in Orlando last Friday. I woke up Saturday with a UTI. I have these quite often and always keep meds on hand. ...Well, of course I left it at home. If you’ve ever suffered with these, you know how painful they can be. By Monday, I was miserable and desperate. I do not do business with big chain drug stores BUT, again... I was desperate. We called a Walgreens that was close by to check the price on the antibiotic I needed. Working in a pharmacy forever and my husband being a pharmacist, we know this medication is cheap. They quoted me a price of $106. (I know...ridiculous) Now let’s just pretend that I have no idea about prices of medication, I’m traveling and I am suffering with a UTI, I’m desperate and will pay whatever. I would go pay the $106 and never know the difference. But, that’s not the case. So, I found a local independent pharmacy close to where we are in Cape Coral (my MNL’s house). We used them when we were in a bind once before. They quoted me a price of $19.99. Yep, the same prescription that was $106 at Walgreens was $20 at an independent. Now, if you have insurance, obviously this wouldn’t be the case bc your insurance actually tells the pharmacy what to charge you. BUT, if you are a cash paying customer, CHECK PRICES. Yes these big chains have $3 and $4 plans for inexpensive medications but trust me, they are making money elsewhere. Shop small and shop local!! We were so sad to hear about the passing of Mr Cline. He was one of the kindest and most interesting men I’d ever had the pleasure of knowing. He was so very supportive of Jason while opening J&J Pharmacy. We loved to hear his stories when he would call or stop by the pharmacy.
