Happy Earth Day!

Our 2-year old Koala teacher and friends are reading a teacher made book on using nice hands. We use our hands for hugs, play with toys and coloring. Beginning early in life, social and emotional learning (SEL) is highly important for helping preschool children to understand and manage their emotions, feel and show empathy for others, establish healthy relationships, set positive goals, and make responsible decisions.

Today our young 2-year old Koala class made a little city using tape, Lego’s, cars and people. They are learning how to interact with each other in small groups, while they practice sharing and using language to begin talking with friends in social situations.

The Penguins (2 year olds) played a number memory matching game today! What a fun way to review the numbers!

Today in all of our classroom’s at Kids R Kids we did a variety of activities to celebrate Valentine’s Day and teach children about ways to show love to one another. These activities allow children to form connections between teachers and peers. When children make connections it increases their capacity to learn.

In the Tiger’s (older 3’s) the children took turns acting out the story of the Three Little Pigs. This activity helps develop children’s oral language skills and comprehension skills. It also teaches children about sequencing and strengthens their listening skills.

In our Lion’s Class (3 year old’s) we decorated the letter Qq. This activity helps children with letter identification.

The Lambs classroom (infants) stimulated their parietal lobes through a Brain Waves activity, "Reach for the Hearts!" By combining the power of our exclusive Brain Waves Curriculum with the guidance of quality teachers, our goal is to provide stimulating learning experiences that support brain development and maximize your child’s mental capacity. The parietal lobe processes information relating to touch, temperature, and pain. This lobe also helps with the brain function such as perceptual modality, sensory processing, spatial recognition, visual and speech processing, and perception.

Today in our Lion’s (3 year olds) class the children participated in the STEAM Activity Geometric Rocket. This activity helps children identify geometric shapes, construct objects, and use basic geometrical terms, as well as increase their critical thinking skills.
