Kingsley Members Rock! Yesterday, some 30+ adult and kid volunteers donated about three hours of their time to complete a long list of project to-do's inside and outside the Club. "Kingsley Cares Day" was a huge success! Our members are what makes our Club so special. Learn more about Kingsley at www.kingsleyclub.org.

We love tennis at Kingsley! And we love to keep used tennis balls out of our landfills! In just a few short months, Kingsley has already recycled 1000 tennis balls through the non-profit recycleballs.org. Thanks to our member Jill Heineck and her company Heineck & Co. (www.heineckandcompany.com) for fully sponsoring our club’s annual participation! Learn more about our members, the club and all its amenities at www.kingsleyclub.org.

Residents in the City of Dunwoody will be under a shelter-in-place order starting at midnight tonight. This amendment to the city’s COVID-19 emergency ordinance... includes exceptions for essential activities listed below. The order will be in effect through April 15, or until it is rescinded or amended by the Dunwoody City Council. This is our strongest statement yet in demonstrating how important it is that we work together to help limit the spread of COVID-19, said Dunwoody Mayor Lynn Deutsch. The vast majority of our residents and businesses are already doing exactly what’s in this order to protect their families and neighbors, but we want to be clearer about what’s expected. The order requires people to remain at their place of residence but allows for outdoor activity, like walking, running and bicycling, as long as they maintain social distancing of at least six feet from those outside of their family or household. Individuals may also leave their residence for the following essential activities: To go to work at any business allowed to remain open. To engage in activities essential to their health and safety, or to the health and safety of their family or household members or partners or significant others (including, but not limited to, pets). This includes obtaining medical supplies or medication, visiting a health care professional, or obtaining supplies they need to work from home. To obtain necessary services, supplies or food for themselves and their family or household members, or to deliver those services or supplies to others. This includes groceries, pet supplies, household products and products necessary to maintain the safety, sanitation, and essential operation of residences. To care for a family member or pet in another household. Please do not be alarmed by this, Mayor Deutsch added. You can continue to pick up dinner and go to the grocery store, pharmacy and hardware store. I want to encourage everyone to buy normal quantities of toilet paper, milk and medicine to help ensure that there is enough for everyone. **Link to more details and a helpful list of questions and answers: https://bit.ly/3buVByj

AUSTIN REDISTRICTINGImpacts all schools in the Dunwoody Cluster Do not let the name fool you! The Austin Redistricting process very much impacts our school. The options presented by DCSD, could bring anywhere from 65 107 new students in the 2020 2021 new school year. This could include the addition of 5 trailers to our campus. We strongly encourage you to visit the Austin Redistricting website for all of the current information AND more importantly attend the next r...ound of community meetings. November 20, 2019 7:00pm Dunwoody High School Auditorium. https://www.dekalbschoolsga.org/ope/planning/redistricting/ (click Austin ES for details) meetihttps://facebook.com/events/470099463603342/?ti=cl

Dunwoody school redistricting Impact to Kingsley neighborhood Kingsley Elementary is one of the smaller schools in the Dunwoody cluster but the current re-districting will have the most significant impact on our neighborhood school. As the district collects feedback on the options presented, a unified message from all neighbors who reside in the Kingsley cluster is critical to our voices being heard. Please use this link to take the district feedback survey by midnight 11/...10/2019: https://tinyurl.com/yyf8pcqu The survey will ask for your feedback on the three options the district has created. Please add your support to OPTION 3! Here are some key pro / con messages you can base your responses on: Option 1 and 2 Pros: None Cons: Creates a lack of diversity within the Kingsley school Provides no relief to entire Dunwoody cluster, just moves children around Violates the DCSS Geographic location policy when redistricting (LaCota is 4 miles from Kingsley, but only 1.0 mile from Hightower) No significant reduction in trailers Option 3 Cons: None Pros: Follows the DCSS Geographic location policy when redistricting Fewest number of trailers throughout the entire cluster Provides the most students access to new schools, (United & Austin) Long term solution that provides the most relief to the entire cluster Balances special programs, spreads ESOL resources across schools Creates socio-economic diversity instead of consolidation In summary, Option 3 is the most equitable solution. We favor geographic proximity over the interests of artificially intact neighborhoods with loud voices (who have been leaving Kingsley out of parent-led map options).
