Nice Weather? Plenty of patio space? People generally acting right in public during the pandemic? ish Staff showing that they understand how to safely conduct themselves at work and follow strict health and safety guidelines? I'm not going to throw out a bunch of the popular buzz words and phrases that, honestly, I'm getting tired of hearing every few seconds on the news and in social media. I know that I don't want Kirkyard to become one of those restaurants that sacr...ifice safety for a healthier bank account. We closed for six weeks back in March because I didn't want to be a part of the problem. My wife and I were also closing in on the end of a forty week marathon that ended on May 9th with the birth of our second child and I wanted to be able to be there for the birth of my daughter at my wife's side. I felt selfish closing and relying on unemployment benefits for my staff and self. I wasn't sure if I'd be able to secure a PPP loan/grant to allow Kirkyard to reopen. I've never had to borrow money for the business before; I used most of my savings to get it open. So baby Stella is happy and healthy along with her big brother and parents.(The sleep deprivation has been manageable.) The science and my gut are telling me that if we all can act right, dining on the patio at Kirkyard can be safe. So, the patio is open for dining. We are going to serve you from the counter so you are going to have to come to us if you need anything like refills or another round or more blue cheese dressing for your wings. And if you don't act safe you will lose your Kirkyard privileges. You can come inside to order and grab some market items but otherwise the inside is off limits. That includes the bathrooms. When will the inside re-open for dining? I don't know. We still have to figure out how we're going to do that. I have a few ideas and we've added more booths to facilitate barriers between tables. Our friends at the @cdcgov and other smart folks have a lot of good recommendations on how we can do that so I'll follow their lead.
