"Start with learning commit to a daily or weekly learning session, using any of the outstanding and abundant multimedia resources to meet you where you are in your progress toward becoming anti-racist. Whether it’s 15 minutes each morning or an hour on Sundays, hold yourself accountable to spending this time and journaling about what you’re learning so that it actually sticks." Remember - your POC coworker/friend/relative does not owe you an education on this. Google new te...rms that you don't understand; follow POC on Instagram and other social media outlets; follow podcasts about anti-racism. Question your own motives and biases and make yourself uncomfortable. We have a lot of work to do. #NotJustAMonth #BlackHistoryMonth #antiracism

**DONATION REQUEST** If there’s any week that touches all facets of our collective, it’s Trans Awareness Week. All three of our groups support people who ar...e trans, GNC, or non-binary: LGBTQ Youth Group Trans Support Group QTPOC Group (for Queer & Trans People of Color) 98% of the education requests we get from other local orgs and business is around... you probably guessed it: Trans sensitivity trainings. Our group engagement and education requests tell us at least two things: 1 Trans people, trans people of color, and trans youth need peer support. 2 Local businesses and organizations can and need to do better. Help us increase our impact in and, more importantly, FOR our local LGBTQIA+ community by becoming a donor here: https://athensqueercollective.org/donate Art by Sarah Epperson

Happy Recovery Month! National Recovery Month is a national observance held every September to educate Americans that substance use treatment and mental health services can enable those with mental and substance use disorders to live healthy and rewarding lives. - Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration One important thing to remember about recovery is that it’s an ongoing process; this includes both substance use and mental health. We will not fix you (p...ro tip: you’re not broken). We will help you learn ways to cope with the things that send you spiraling, aka triggers. These skills can benefit you for a lifetime, but do require some level of maintenance. #mentalhealthmatters #RecoveryMonth #RecoveryIsReal #onlinecounseling

Affirming someone’s identity with their correct pronouns is such a simple way of saying I see you. I respect you. This article does a great job of breaking down what non-binary means.

"If your something larger is not something out there that calls you, but is something that dwells inside you permanently, it doesn't matter how terrible things are. It doesn't matter how much of a shit show 2020 is. Nothing can disconnect you from your something larger. And so you always have access to meaning and purpose, which is going to help you survive. " What's your something larger? Check out this phenomenal podcast @feministsurvivalproject
