The topic of circle hooks recently appeared on one of my favorite local facebook groups. The article was great, however there was "no," mention of the proper knot to use. The Snell, was all but designed for the circle hook application. When threading the line through the hook-eye in the direction of the hookpoint, you mechanical advantage is achieved during the hookset. This illustrates only one of dozens of different ways to approach The Snell Knot. It's called a Uni-S...nell. I'm using paracord, with a large hook that I use for Tarpon for visibility. I typically use this knot on tackle below 20lbs. For larger tackle I use a snell that involves passing the entire hook through the loop. It's very difficult to tie on light tackle, but absolutely the best for larger offshore applications.
