Leadership Baldwin 15.01.2021

The 2019-20 Leadership and Youth Leadership Baldwin classes received a mini-grant from Community Foundation of Central Georgia earlier this year. The funds from the grant, Summer Readers- Future Leaders, were used to purchase books to help encourage reading among our community youth. Today, we were fortunate to hand out these books as well as see the children's joy as they received them. Thanks to the Leadership Baldwin alumni that assisted with passing the books out and to Walls of Books Milledgeville for helping us get so many wonderful books!

Good Morning! After much evaluation and discussion, we have, unfortunately, decided we will not be able to have a YLB class this year due to the current, ever-c...hanging climate. This was an extremely difficult decision to make because we have had such positive momentum and growth over the last few years. Given the importance of touring the local facilities, schools and government buildings as well as peer to peer interaction, we do not feel the participants will get the full effect of the program through a virtual setting. With that being said, we will be back in 2021 bigger and better! We are taking this time to evaluate the program and see ways we can improve and make sure the participants can get everything possible out of their experience. Normally, YLB is open for only local high school juniors, but for 2021, seniors and juniors will be allowed to apply and participate. If there are any students that showed interest in applying this year, please feel free to send Kara Lassiter ([email protected]) his or her name and we will make sure to reach out and send them an application in 2021. #youthleadershipbaldwin #seeyouin2021

In early March, the Leadership Baldwin class was fortunate to hear from Jonathan Jackson with the Baldwin County Development Authority about new businesses coming to our community as well as our current industry. In addition, the class toured two new companies, Fouts Bros. and FoodService Partners, as well as one long-standing one, Triumph Aerostructures - Vought Aircraft Division. We cannot thank each one of these companies enough for taking their time to meet with us and to show us their amazing facilities. Also, thank you to Georgia Military College for providing our transportation.
