Confessions From A Pastor’s Wife Mid-August, I found myself in an unfamiliar place. I had become lethargic and lazy about my online worship and my ministry res...ponsibilities. Where has my excitement gone? Has my love and passion for ministry work disappeared? My Sunday Morning worship was competing with Hallmark movies. No judging this is my confession. While I was sinking in my laziness, my husband/pastor stayed vigilant. Then it happened, God knocked me upside my head, and this is what He said, Sheretta, you are not on vacation! How dare you wake up on MY Sunday mornings, the grace days that I give you, and turn on Hallmark? How dare you neglect your ministry responsibilities? You watch your husband/pastor labor in sermon preparation, get up EVERY Sunday morning, mount his pulpit, and PREACH his heart outto empty chairs. Imagine the psychological effects of that? There are times when he preaches under his own weight of physical, mental, and spiritual exhaustion. Nonetheless, he looks into that camera with the power of the Holy Spirit and says, This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it, immediately things begin to happen. The sermon unequivocally challenges, convicts, encourages, corrects, rebukes, and empowers the life of the hearers. You are a ministry leader with a responsibility to partner with the Pastor in Kingdom work GET UP AND HELP HIM! I was overcome with guilt, conviction, and ultimately repentance. I am grateful that God loves me enough to nudge me back to reality and remind me of my purpose and ministry assignment. Now, each Sunday, I wake up ready for worship and praying for my Pastor, anticipating God to use him to speak a refreshing word to His people. On this Pastor’s Appreciation Sunday, I celebrate my husband/pastor and every Pastor who stands boldly and preach the gospel in this COVID season; using every creative platform imaginable. Thank you for staying faithful to the call, staying faithful through inconsistent online attendance, and tithes and offerings. Thank you for your pastoral love and prayers, performing weddings, visiting our sick, and eulogizing our family members. Thank you, Pastor West, for caring for our souls. See more
