The shame that goes with it and not wanting to admit you can't control that little liquid in a bottle...Alcohol is not what we think it is, especially if you already have anxiety, depression or other mental wellness issues. Using alcohol is like pouring gasoline on a fire. We really think we are alone in this and we're not. Now, more than any other time in our history there is support for exploring and questioning your relationship with your glass of wine of liquor. Reach out to me if you have questions, I am happy to help. Xo Lynn She Recovers Women For Sobriety, Inc.The Sober Therapist Sobersoul Recovery Podcast and Coaching

When we are not taught how to manage and regulate our emotions in a healthy way, we are left to interpret them and others reactions to them for ourselves. Imagine a two year old being yelled at for crying. They don’t know what they are feeling (fearful, sad, confused...) and their caregiver responds from their own discomfort and fear. This is how unhealthy responses to emotions are passed on from generation to generation. Let’s be the generation that breaks this cycle.

Instead of trying to distract you or your child from the discomfort of them crying...try one of these instead. xo Lynn

Many of us cringe at going inward, neglecting our own needs. Ask yourself... Do I keep busy, focusing on being productive with my time? Am I uncomfortable if left alone to be with myself and my own thoughts? If so, it is a strong signal that you may need to do just that. Learning the art of self-love/self compassion takes time because so often we have been avoiding it for far too many years.

Beautifully said I think I often share some of this content, for how to support children, because it is such a tender and compassionate way of supporting ourselves as well. Sometimes that inner critic, in an effort to help you move past the feelings, may shame, minimize or even ignore your experience. #takecare and be gentle with yourself! Turning off racing thoughts and distractions can be a challenge for many people. Eckhart suggests practicing listening in conversation with others, devoting oneself to listening actively 80 percent of the time. Watch and learn more about how to quiet your mind. https://youtu.be/71yjXgUpLWw

The most important lesson I have learned.... The chief beauty about time is that you cannot waste it in advance. The next year, the next day, the next hour are lying ready for you,... as perfect, as unspoiled, as if you had never wasted or misapplied a single moment in all your life. You can turn over a new leaf every hour if you choose. Arnold Bennett See more
