On this day, 22 April 2004, Corporal Jason Lee Dunham succumbed to wounds he sustained on 14 April 2004 by covering an enemy grenade while on patrol. The act saved the lives of his fellow Marines and earned him the Medal of Honor. He was the first Marine to receive the award since Vietnam. Cpl Dunham served with Marine Corps Security Forces Kings Bay from 2000 to 2003. His memory lives on within the Battalion with the re-naming of our barracks, within the Navy with the commis...sioning of the USS Jason Dunham (DDG 109), and within the Marine Corps when his story is shared with young recruits during the crucible. Please take a moment to remember his sacrifice and his unselfish act of heroism. Below is a link to the trailer for an upcoming documentary sharing Cpl Jason Dunham's story. https://fb.watch/51CMGOQmQJ/
Happening tomorrow!
Today we remember the commitment of Medal of Honor recipient, Cpl Jason L. Dunham. On this day in 2004, Cpl Dunham risked his life to save the lives of his fell...ow Marines when he covered an enemy grenade with his helmet and body to shield them from the blast. Cpl Dunham died from his wounds eight days later. He became the first Marine to receive the Medal of Honor since Vietnam. Semper fidelis. See more

Good morning and Happy Friday. Hurricane season is right around the corner and preparation has began. Stay ready with these helpfully tips to make sure we get through this year safely together. Family Disaster Plan - Dicuss the type of hazards that could affect your family. Know your home's vulnerability to storm surge, flooding and wind. - Locate a safe oom or the safest areas in your home for each hurricane hazard. In certain cirumstances the safest areas may not be your h...ome but within your community. - Determine escape routes from your home and places to meet. These should be measured in tens of miles rather than hundreds of miles. - Have an out-of-state friend as a family contact, so all your family members have a single point of contact. - Make a plan now for what to do with your pets if you need to evacuate. - Post emergency telephone numbers by your phones and make sure your children know how and when to call 911. - Check your insurance coverage - Flood damaf=ge is not usually covered by homeowners insurance. - Stock non-perishable emergancey supplies and a disaster supply kit. - Use a NOAA weather radio. Remember to replace its battery every 6 months, as you do with your smoke detectors. - Take first aid, CPR and disaster preparedness classes. See more

Good afternoon MCSFBn family, I would like to thank everyone for your help and support during this time of uncertainty. There have been significant number of changes to how we go about our daily lives as Marines and Sailors and families and members of our communities. I wanted to update you on what information we have so that you can best prepare yourselves and be aware of what actions we are taking.... I want to assure you that we are doing everything in our power to keep your Marines and Sailors healthy and safe while we continue to provide a critical capability for our nation. We will continue to conduct business as usual and monitor the situation. We are also taking steps to keep ourselves healthy and practing good hygiene both on and off duty so that we can remain ready when called to perform our mission. Many of you have heard of the temporary suspension of movement of personal and some of you may have been impacted by this. We will work through this with you and keep you informed of any changes that are made so that you can plan as a family. We will continue to update this as the situation changes. Service members and their families that want more information are encouraged to continue to communicate with thier chain of command to answer their questions directly. We have also suspended all non-mission critical training activities and planned battalion events effective now until further notice in order to ensure everyone's health and safety. Specifically , we have postponed Dunham Challenge in April and the Spouse breakfast later this month. At this time we are not certian when these will be re-scheduled. Once again, I want to thank everyone for thier patience and understanding as we work through these challenges together. Sincerely, Lieutenant Colonel Brian C.
