FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Michael Harper, Esq., Law Offices of Michael D. Harper, P.C. ~ (404) 857-0292 PRESS RELEASE FOR ANTONIO MAY... AN INMATE WHO DIED IN THE FULTON COUNTY, GA JAIL Atlanta, Georgia June 16, 2020 On behalf of the family of Antonio May, the legal team will hold a press conference and media event on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at 5:00 PM in front of the Fulton County Courthouse, 185 Central Ave, SW, Atlanta, GA 30303 to demand that Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard file criminal charges against the Fulton County Jail deputies for the torture and murder of Antonio May, which occurred on September 11, 2018! Mr. May was arrested for misdemeanor criminal trespass on the morning of September 11, 2018, in Atlanta, GA. After his arrest, Mr. May was transferred to Grady Hospital in Atlanta, GA for medical clearance. Mr. May was then transported to the Fulton County Jail for booking. Despite Mr. May’s serious physical and mental health issues he was placed in a holding cell with no medical assistance. While in the holding call an illegal and unnecessary confrontation ensued. Per eyewitnesses, the guards then used two (2) tasers simultaneously on Mr. May’s body, including his pubic area, pepper sprayed Mr. May in the face, beat him with their fists and continuously sprayed a water hose in his face. Their actions caused Mr. May’s cardiovascular collapse. As a result, Mr. May died on the floor of the Fulton County Jail in a pool of his own blood! We find it hard to believe that some officers can be charged in a matter of days, and our case has languished for nearly 2 years with no charges. We are asking all concerned citizens and local, national and international media outlets to meet us at the press conference as we continue to pursue justice for Antonio May!
