Register: preventcovid.eventbrite.com There is some mistrust of vaccines, especially in the Black community, and understandably so. How does our history affect ...our future? Are we equipped with enough information to make informed decisions? Can we trust scientific research and analysis? What do we do or where do we go from here? These are questions that remain unanswered for many and our goal is to share our thoughts, provide answers, and community support. You are invited to join Black & Latino Imams (Faith leaders), Medical and Public Health Professionals, and Community Members for a timely honest conversation around Islam, COVID-19, Vaccines, and Mistrust. We want to hear from you! Your voice is important to this community conversation. Please email [email protected] if you have questions for the panelists. We look forward to you joining us. Please spread the word. Sponsored by the Covid-19 Prevention Network.

Katherine Johnson was a trailblazing woman called a computer. It took almost half a century for her to be recognized as the woman that made space exploration possible. She helped NASA put an astronaut into orbit around Earth and a man on the Moon for the first time. She was a math wiz that zoomed through school, starting high school at the age of 10, and college at the age of 15. She worked for NASA for more than 30 years. Katherine Johnson was born in 1918 in West Virginia... and died at 101 years old on Feb. 24, 2020. The 2016 Academy Award-nominated film Hidden Figures celebrates her life and works. Posthumously, she was awarded the 2020 National Geographic Society Hubbard Medal (National Geographic’s highest honor) for achievement in research, discovery, and exploration, the same award given 50 years earlier in 1969 to the Apollo astronauts. In 2016, NASA named a building at the Langley Research Center in Virginia in honor of Katherine Johnson. Because in the 1950s, there were no computers like we have today, people like Ms. Johnson worked as human computers to solve hard math problems by hand. She broke many barriers and was amazing.
