Happy Thanksgiving! #ThanksAndGiving #endALS

ALS is a terminal illness. End-of-life plans become an unfortunate necessity. There’s help though and these people are angels (in the purest sense of the word), and everyone deserves a quality of life to the end. We would like to recognize Lynn Milek (RN case manager) with Hospice of Washington County. Lynn is an angel. Not only does she care for her patients, but she takes the time to know their family’s needs and help provide available resources. Just an act of empathy and ...humanity redefined. As a way of saying Thanks, we are Giving a $5,000 gift to Hospice of Washington County for their Quality of Life care where no one is denied. #ThanksAndGiving #QualityOfLife #EmpathyAndHumanity #endALS

In 2007, O. J. Brigance of the Baltimore Ravens was diagnosed with ALS. Upon realizing how devastating and underfunded this disease is, he and his wife, Chanda founded the Brigance Brigade Foundation. Their mission is to equip, encourage, and empower people living with ALS. Foundation programs include Chanda’s Caregiver Corner, Pay It Forward, as well as Resources and Connections to help navigate a challenging landscape. However, the program that caught our attention is the P...ALS Grant Program, providing financial grants to People living with ALS (PALS) to access in-home care, home accessibility, and equipment, not covered by insurance. As a way of saying Thanks, we are Giving a $5,000 gift to the Brigance Brigade Foundation PALS Grant Program. #ThanksAndGiving #endALS

A popular service for the underserved in the ALS Community is a Medical Equipment Loan Closet. ALS has extensive durable medical equipment needs (subject to the individual’s healthcare coverage, plan limitations and deductibles). Used and donated equipment provide a good temporary source. Unfortunately, many Loan Closets have closed during COVID-19 due to the risk of exposing already at-risk respiratory systems. However, The The ALS Association - DC/MD/VA Chapter continues to... maintain their Loan Closet, but at now higher demands. As a way of saying Thanks, we are Giving a $5,000 gift to this Chapter’s Loan Closet Program to help them replenish essential needs. #ThanksAndGiving #endALS

In the spirit of Thanks and Giving, there has not been a more deserving year. So over the next few days we will be highlighting our efforts in trying to serve our purpose. The MOj13 Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, was organized to help those afflicted with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) that lack the support in gaining assistance (ie, tools, equipment, care) for their daily needs. #ThanksAndGiving #endALS
