After listening to the story of the first printing press made by the German goldsmith and inventor Johannes Gutenberg, the children in Monika’s elementary class did an art lesson on printing their names. They discovered they have to write their names in mirror image for them to print the right way!

Working on the distributive property of multiplication in Monika’s elementary class. This not only helps the child to practice with facts, it also prepares them for later work with long multiplication and squaring.

Due to the growing potential for severe weather this evening, during the overnight hours and into the morning commute, Northwoods will be closed on Thursday, October 29, 2020.

Lisa’s primary class. After the child has had much experience with the Sandpaper Letters and the Movable Alphabet, she is ready for a lesson on the Phonetic Object Box. The Phonetic Object Box is the first reading activity.

Monika’s elementary class...The children keep going back to the Timeline of Life to learn more about animals and how they have changed with the passage of time. Here they are looking for additional facts on Archaeopteryx.

Monika’s elementary class...Using the peg board and pegs, the child chooses a number and then systematically finds its factors. This also brings to the child’s attention the relationship between factors and multiples.

We are all doing our part to stay healthy and safe by hand washing and cleaning the environments and materials after each use.
