ACGME News: The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education recognizes Emory University School of Medicine, Emergency Medicine Residency and Morehouse School of Medicine as the inaugural winners of the ACGME Diversity and Inclusion Award for their innovation, commitment, thought leadership to create physician workforce diversity, and efforts to promote inclusivity. The award identifies ACGME-accredited Sponsoring Institutions and programs working to diversify the un...derrepresented physician workforce and create inclusive workplaces that foster professional, civil, and equitable environments. Morehouse School of Medicine receives the award after displaying years of dedication to pathway programs, reinvesting in the local community, and diverse recruitment and retention. Sixty percent of Morehouse alumni continue to serve in underserved areas of Georgia. ‘The sheer impact Morehouse has on the entire state is to be admired and aspired to,’ said ACGME Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer William McDade, MD, PhD.

Adjunct Faculty spotlight! Meet Thomas Oden, MD! Dr. Oden is an Atlanta-based Board Certified Psychiatrist specializing in Forensics, Integrative Health, and Psychotherapy. He also offers treatment via Telemedicine to his patients in Georgia, California, New Hampshire, and Louisiana creating flexibility for those not available for traditional office visits. Dr. Oden earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Morehouse College and his MD from Boston University. He then went on to complete his General Psychiatry Residency and Forensic Psychiatry Fellowship from Tulane School of Medicine. We are pleased to have him engage in training the next generation of MSM Docs!
