One of the diagnostic tests we offer our patients at the Shaw Center for Women's Health is a bone density Dexa scan. Here’s three great ways to celebrate Women’s Health Week, May9-15th. 1- SCHEDULE A CHECKUP Annual checkups are an absolute must for maintaining good health. If you haven't had a physical in a while, contact your doctor and book an appointment. Yes, even if you're feeling great.... 2- ANALYZE YOUR DIET Check your eating habits to make sure you're getting the recommended daily allotment of nutrients. It's easy to slip into an unhealthy eating routine. Make National Women's Health Week a time to adjust your diet. 3- JOIN THE GYM Join your local gym and establish a regular workout routine. Better yet, if you have the resources, hire a personal trainer who will keep you honest.

It’s hard to feel your best when you’re dealing with uncomfortable vaginal dryness. As we age, and our estrogen levels decline, our vaginal tissues become thinner. This can cause daily discomfort and can make intercourse more difficult. The method that we use in our practice, the BioTE method of bioidentical hormone therapy, or BHRT, can help balance hormones and relieve the symptoms associated with menopause. Contact us today to learn more.

Blustery winter weather can have a huge affect on our skin. Dry cracked skin can be such a pain, but staying hydrated and carrying hand moisturizer can help heal winter skin ailments. However, skin that is consistently dry and lifeless year round can be a byproduct of hormone imbalances in our body associated with age. Collagen helps our skin stay healthy and full of moisture, and estrogen may help the body retain collagen in the skin. The method that we use, the BioTE method of pellet therapy, has shown a statistically significant increase in a patient’s collagen. Contact us to learn more about the role of estrogen in collagen production!

With colder weather comes sweater weather! But not everyone feels cozy wrapped up in a wool. Menopause can cause hot flashes, which can make a woman feel sweaty, hot, and uncomfortable. Contact us to learn how the BioTE difference may relieve the symptoms of hormone imbalance and help everyone enjoy all that winter has to offer.

The colder it gets the harder it is to leave the house to exercise. Teaming up with a friend to hit the gym can be a great way to stay motivated during the winter! However, lacking the energy to ever make it through normal exercise without feeling undue exhaustion can be a symptom of low testosterone. Feeling lethargic with decreased mood may be a sign of hormone imbalance. Contact us to learn more about the symptoms of unbalanced hormones, and how we may be able to help.
