Each grant is given as one-time assistance for a specific emergency, examples of which are fire, flood, or emergency medical need. Ian Carlo Vicente is an industrial designer working towards his MFA in Luxury and Fashion Management at Savannah College of Art and Design. He is originally from Caguas, Puerto Rico and the inspiration for his brand "Manglar" came upon realizing there wasn't any representation of what true Caribbean and Latino culture is like among the apparel industry. Ian will be celebrated during our 15th Annual Fine Art and Fashion as a Student Fashion Forward Award Recipient!

Charly Palmer is an Atlanta-based graphic designer, illustrator, and painter, was raised in Milwaukee, WI. Charly is this year’s Fine Art + Fashion Visual Artist Award Recipient presented by Neiman Marcus. In 2020, Charly’ artistic voice rises above political clamor. Bigger Love, an album cover for John Legend, won a Grammy for Best R&B Album Cover in 2021. He graced the cover of Time Magazine in 2020 for the America Must Change Issue with the work In Her Eyes, which shows the amalgamation of past and present efforts for Black power through a child’s eyes.

The Judy Chicago Art Education Award, funded by MaryRoss Taylor, is a $2,500 prize that honors Judy Chicago and her pioneering work as an art educator. The award is open to scholars, artists, and educators creating projects based on research that incorporates any of the archives that are included in the Judy Chicago Research Portal. NBAF's Assistant Director of Youth Programs, Jessica Bertram will premiere her evening length work, Our Hair Feels Like Flower Petals on Saturday, June 19th. This contemporary dance performance features four Black women and investigates their resilience and journey towards healing during this trying time in America. The performance will be held at the Movement Lab, home of T. Lang Dance (1388 Ralph David Abernathy Blvd). There will be 3 showings, 2:30pm, 5:00pm, and 7:30pm wi...th a talk back to follow. Ifeade Adedokun is a 2021 Fashion Forward Winner. Ifeade is a Graduate Fashion Design Student at Savannah College of Art and Design. Ifeade was also invited to participate in a global catwalk show for GFW (Graduate Fashion Week) in London this month! In her project, Ifeade explored the possibilities of denim via surface manipulation while learning about weight, properties, washes, and threshold of the fabric. E’Naiyah S. Frazier is a 2021 Fashion Forward Winner. E’Naiyah is a Graduate Fashion Design Student at Savannah College of Art and Design. As a denim designer, E’Naiyah looks for new and innovative ways to design for the denim industry. Her collection " Denim couturier" was inspired from the quote As within so without.
