East Cobb Sports Collectibles Show This is not how I planned to start out the new year for our Show! However, because of the iffy weather situation for the weekend, the East Cobb Sports Collectibles Show scheduled for Sunday, January 8 has been postponed until Sunday, January 15. ... Although the snow is supposed to end by Saturday afternoon, it will still be remarkably cold - in the teens on Sunday morning - and icing might be a problem. Also, north Georgia will be hit harder and that is where many of our customers and some vendors come in from. I don't want to take any chances, especially since the hotel had Jan. 15 available as an alternative. This notice is going out to all on my Show email notification list. If you know any show goers who hasn't signed on, please inform them so they won't needlessly make a trip to the hotel. I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but safety comes first for customers and vendors. Please contact me if you have any questions. And, to celebrate the outgoing year, our last Show of 2016 will be on this SATURDAY - New Year’s Eve.... For out-of-towners coming to celebrate New Year’s Eve in Atlanta or to attend the Alabama-Washington Peach Bowl and/or the Saints-Falcons game, please consider staying at our host venue, the Hilton Garden Inn/Wildwood. It is only a 15 minute drive to the closest MARTA station with parking for taking the train to the games at the Georgia Dome. East Cobb Sports Collectibles Show Wow, it’s hard to believe that the holiday season is once again upon us. It seems like just a few days ago that the Cubbies won the World Series. Oh, wait...it was just a few days ago! When the baseball season comes to a close 3 weeks before Thanksgiving, it’s time for a much needed intervention within Major League Baseball. ... With pitchers and catchers reporting to spring training in mid-February, to the final pitch of the World Series on November 2nd, it took almost 9 months for the season to wend its way to conclusion. MLB not only overlapped the ending of the previous NHL and NBA seasons, but the beginnings of the next ones as well! With the expanded playoff scheme, a good start would be for Commissioner Manfred, the team owners and the Players Association agreeing on returning the regular season back to 154 games. That alone would knock off about 10 days. Bottom line, it’s time to get the World Series back to being called the Fall Classic, not the Pre-Turkey Day Classic.
