This video shows images from the end of the Great Depression into the start of World War II. The narrator speaks about the Christmas of 1941 and how only weeks before Christmas Day the United States was thrust into the war.
This footage of the President and his contemporaries was taken in the 1930’s by his secretary Marguerite "Missy" Lehand in the small town of Warm Springs, Georgia. The footage shows the Little White House as well as the swimming pools where the President swam and took his hydrotherapy.
We were thrilled to host the VanPatten family recently. They have been traveling all across Georgia, working on Junior Ranger badges at state parks and historic sites. In fact, we think they might end up being the first family to earn all 59 badges in our new Junior Ranger program. We’re so glad they enjoyed their tour! https://gastateparks.org/JuniorRanger
Starting today, we are excited to reopen our visitor center during regular operating hours. Find our hours and other information on our website at GaStateParks.org/LittleWhiteHouse. Capacity may be limited at times to ensure social distancing. Our staff and Rangers are here and eager to welcome you back. Thank you for your patience and support.
