One Good Deed family, new exciting news! Coming Soon: This year, JF&CS Atlanta is offering a new home sharing program, HomeShare ATL, for older adult home owners providing shared space and individuals seeking a home. A home provider offers a private bedroom, bath and shared common space in exchange for rent and/or help around the home. If you or someone you know may be interested, please contact Jean Cohen at 770.677.9435 or [email protected]... To apply to become a home provider visit jfcsatl.org/homeshareatl #homeshare #jewishcommunity #homeowners #homesharing
We had so much fun celebrating our volunteers this month! We appreciate each and every one of you Thank you so much for your kindness and help. It was nice to see some of you at our drive-by event, and we hope to catch up again soon! We love you all! @sharon.spiegelman @vkurl @mirablues
Friendship is Everything ! Say No more! Watch the video below https://youtu.be/k1K3yQIKX4w
ATTENTION VOLUNTEERS Please send us photos/quote/stories that you’d like shared (assuming both you and your match have provided permission to do such!). Due to the pandemic, it’s more difficult than ever to create content for a program like this! We need your help ... Throwbacks photos of lunch dates before covid? Selfies at the movies from 2 years ago? Screenshot of your convo on zoom or FaceTime? A quote or memory you’d like to share? SEND IT OUR WAY We appreciate each and every one of you! It’s our goal to reach more people who could benefit from One Good Deed! We’d also like to reach more volunteers. Let’s work together! B’yachad Thanks!
Meet Paul He’s an Atlanta State Trooper, and a One Good Deed volunteer. Paul had some extra time during the week, and saw an ad for our program in an Atlanta magazine. He’s been volunteering with us since January 2019, and we’re so happy he chose One Good Deed!
Thank you notes from some of our older adult friends. Meaningful connections are made here, and we’re so grateful for all of you!
Natalie and Pat feel so lucky to have been matched by One Good Deed, and we’re so grateful to have watched their friendship flourish! Volunteer, Pat (on the right), told us she doesn’t even feel like a volunteer- Natalie is her friend This year, they’ve continued to stay in touch on the phone!
Our volunteer @mirablues taking a break from songwriting to talk to her friend Abe. While Mira is in her 20s, and Abe is in his 90s, this friendship match was not random! They are both very passionate about music Mira tells us, Talking to Abe is the highlight of my week. In a time where the world can seem so chaotic and overwhelming, Abe always shares wisdom and provides great perspective. He has no idea how much he’s already inspired me. We’d call that
Our friend Marc with two of his favorite people! His wife Randy to his left, and his friend Max (OGD volunteer) to his right! Another reason we miss having program events in person: seeing all of your smiling faces together! Marc and Max have developed such a great friendship, and it’s such a blessing to see friends become family
Waking up grateful today! : Volunteer, Ralph, driving to the far outskirts of Atlanta to deliver Hanukkah gift bags this holiday season He helped us reach our older adults, ! Thanks, Ralph One Good Deed goes a long way
After a long and difficult year, we’re going to acknowledge some of the beautiful moments we had in 2020. Delivering Rosh Hashanah bags to our older adult friends was certainly a highlight. Nothing lights up a face like apples and honey
We’re glad Marc is wearing a mask, but we’re sad you can’t see his wonderful smile! Our isolated older adult friends are so important to us, and it was such a pleasure to be able to bring Hanukkah gift bags to them over the holidays. No one has to do this alone (Special thank you to @chabadgt_gsu for helping make the gift bags possible!)
Natalie and Pat (volunteer) have a beautiful connection. They both feel so lucky to have met each other, and we’re grateful to have played a role in their friendship! Do you, or a loved one, want to be matched with a One Good Deed volunteer? Let us know! PLEASE NOTE: Due to COVID-19 precautions, we are only making phone friend matches during this time. We know that this pandemic has been particularly difficult and isolating for our older adult friends, but no one has to walk through this alone! A new friend is just a phone call away
Joyce and Hillary have been friends since they were matched by One Good Deed, back in 2017. Some friendships are simply meant to be! Interested in volunteering with OGD? Send us a message!
Have a wonderful, safe, happy, and healthy holiday! Stay warm today, Atlanta
We may not be able to visit with most of our friends in person, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get creative with our hangouts! Coffee with a friend is just a phone call away!
We’re two peas in a pod, Pat (volunteer on the right) says about her friendship with Natalie. What a gift Tap the link in our bio A new friend is just a phone call away
Frank and Shelly, pre-pandemic. Missing the days when we could go out to lunch with our older adult friends in person- and even hug them! We’re so grateful for our phone friendships right now : , ! One Good Deed doesn’t match phone friends at random; we put care and consideration into the friendship matches we make. Meaningful connections are made here The link in our bio will help you get started A new friend is just a phone call away
Good morning! This is a photo of Allyn (volunteer) with her OGD friend, Hinda. Currently, we are daydreaming about when we can have program events in person again For pandemic precautions, Allyn and Hinda keep in touch on the phone regularly It’s so fulfilling to see all of these wonderful friendships continue to thrive, despite the significant changes in our world!
The holidays look different this year, so One Good Deed brought Hanukkah to Sandy We’re very grateful to those that helped us fill these adorable gift bags with love! Zoom in on the second photo to see who helped Thanks, everyone!
