So in our new norm of providing trainings virtually, this calls for a booster training for the Standards of Quality for Family Strengthening & Support! In a nutshell, this training helps me work with youth serving agencies/school systems or any organization who interacts with families, in order to help them work better with the families that they work with. It is with great pleasure that we introduce you to our Carol O. Willis Mini Grant Recipient, Ferst Readersof Floyd County! Ferst Readers was founded in 1999 to address the growing problem of children from low income communities entering kindergarten without basic early literacy skills and school readiness, a preventable problem with life long impact. To address this issue, Ferst Readers mails an age appropriate book every month to registered children from birth to their 5th... birthday- at no cost for to the family. Because parent engagement is vital in the preschool year, each book comes with a parent newsletter that reinforces children! Improved School Success with an emphasis on Childhood Literacy is one of our strategies that each applicant was required to follow. Ferst Readers will be collaborating with Rome City Schools - Rome, GA to ensure that every registered student (age appropriate) receives a book! #Partnering2Empower #ThisIsWhatItLooksLike
