SPECIAL DONATION NEWS!! As some of you may know, we have been hunting for the #oldbaptist church records for many years. The records have always been an elusive subject. The thought of what could have happened to them after the #civilwar has haunted many of us... could they be in the wall of an old house around here? Maybe unknowingly donated to another facility? Buried somewhere? The thought of never finding them really hung over our heads. We’ve not only wanted them for ...preservation purposes since they belonged to the first church structure EVER erected in #powdersprings and would be the first EVER records kept from those pioneering days, but because they could possibly provide the names of some of the the missing 135 graves we found in our cities oldest #burial grounds last year. Well, last week the mystery was solved. An old box of records strolled right on in and shocked us all!! Someone found the Old Baptist Church records (Circa 1835)in an old basement and dropped them off!We haven’t gone though it all, but the oldest ledger book looked at so far is from 1839!!!! See more
