"My story began when last year I began to get heavily involved in gardening. I had never thought gardening would become more than a hobby for me. I haven't been... into gardening all my life and I wasn't raised on a farm. My passions stemmed from interest that has grown over time. I currently work at Sustainable Science Academy which is affiliated with NWIAA (National Women In Agriculture). I have been given the opportunity to grow vegetables in the community garden and raised beds on the property. I am a first-year gardener and I have watched kale, cabbage and squash thrive in the greenhouse that I was given control of. I am humbled to be able to learn and make mistakes along with the children that I have to watch." -Kristian Merritt, USA Kristian is currently trying to raise a modest $1500 to help her get to Langston University this Fall to pursue her agricultural interests. Let's help make it happen for her! https://www.gofundme.com/getkristiantolangston Thank you so much. Please share, donate anything you can, we are so inspired by her.

What comes to mind when you think of Panama City, Panama? Probably just the Panama Canal, right? A few years ago I thought the same. But now I get to know it fo...r the beautiful people, the rich culture, dope weather, and world-class restaurants. Though I’ll admit, the canal’s pretty epic too I started coming here in 2010 and I haven't stopped visiting since. There is so much more to Panama than just the canal. Panama City is such an underrated spot in Central America. It seriously rivals Miami in a lot of ways. Let me start from the beginning In 2014, I saw a beautiful young woman walking her dog down the beach in Playa Venao (right outside of El Sitio de playa venao ). Of course, I say hey and introduce myself. Her name was Kary and unfortunately, she was leaving, but we exchanged info. Side note: Playa Venao is worth a weekend! We'll drop a video soon. panamacity.passportheavy.com Visit here to download our Insider Guide to Panama City. Anyways, fast forward a few years and I’m back in Panama. Kary and I meet up and she shows me around the city, taking me to all the epic spots that most miss out on. And that was the start of the love affair. With Panama, that is. Now every time I come back to this city it's like a family reunion. I've lived in Panama for up to six months at a time. Plus I've made some good friends there. This trip was no different. The best part though is that we were able to film the whole thing. We’ve actually ended up with so much footage that we’ll be dropping a second Panama video on May 15. This first video is all about the visual vibes. The next one will be a recap of my time in Panama with a VERY special announcement in it. So stay tuned Every time I come to Panama I have to link up with my boy Guillermo Barcenas who owns Voltage Studios. They shoot some of the biggest commercials in the country. He laced us with some epic aerial footage for this video. Then, when I'm hungry, I know my boy Mario is always making it happen. He’s pretty much the godfather of dope restaurants. I'm not just saying this because he's my boy. Check TripAdvisor or the NY Times. In this video I visited his Botánica Pizza and simply put wow. It's in the San Francisco area of the city. I could see Sunday brunches here being off the hook. You also gotta try Tacos La Neta in Casco Viejo. For real some of the best tacos I’ve ever had in my life. I wanted to film but one of the guys in there said no. I didn't feel like arguing so I just enjoyed the food instead. Turns out Mario’s actually part owner there too. That guy’s got the golden touch. If you’re a fan of the spice, head to Sistá House for the hot sauce. It’s one of the best joint for hot sauce and Afro-Panamanian food. I could go on and on about food. Jose at Donde José ; the #1 restaurant in the city on TripAdvisor. Chombolin at @Intimo Don’t get me started. I swear you can come track me down if you don't like the food at these places. But you can't eat all day and not workout. One of the coolest things in the city is Cinta Costera . Here you'll find people exercising day and night. They have it all there. Running paths, basketball, soccer, dance classes. It’s a good way to get involved with the locals too. To head out of the city, a ferry ride or a short 20 minute flight from Panama City is Contondora. This place has some of the most beautiful waters you’ll ever see. If you’re after some super chill vibes, you’ll wanna come here. Now to be honest, the reason I don't have a six-pack is because I love cookies and ice cream too much. For real, ask anyone who knows me But I found a solution here Helados Keenes ice cream. It's all natural ice cream made from the freshest ingredients. You can only find it in Panama so JP was trying to transport a case back with us. No doubt the one thing I love doing in a new spot is helicopter tours. Panama City is easily one of the top tours in the WORLD. Literally, within two minutes you are going from high rises and ocean views to epic jungles. It's wild to see the contrast in scenery. Our pilot with Helicopteros Personales S.A. was a straight boss. He used to fly around the ex-president of Panama. There are some things I don't mind paying a little more money for and taking a helicopter is one of those things. I always say you can’t experience a place in full unless you’ve had the birds eye view. I can't say enough good things about Panama. I love the city and the people. It’s just an epic place to be in for however long you go for. I think of it like my third home after Chicago and London. I’ve just finished a PassportHeavy guide for Panama City that you can find here: panamacity.passportheavy.com I want to thank JP Isaacs for shooting and editing the video. Thanks to Isaiah Q. McNeill , our music composer for creating a masterpiece. Of course my right hand woman, Maria Isabel Ruiz for making the trip happen. And last but not least, my friend Kary Keene who showed me a new side to Panama that I could share with the world. Thank you, Panama. Thank you to all of my friends for making it happen!
