In this week's training; firefighters were able to showcase their skills to a much smaller than usual crowd. The boys and girls of the Youth Center decided to pay their base Fire Department a visit as one of their summer camp field trips. The kids engaged with the firefighters and discovered the unique style of firefighting that most was unaware of, ARFF (Airport Rescue Fire Fighting). The kids learned about, our ARFF apparatuses, agent application, foam versus water extinguishment, and the specialized training that firefighters receives to become ARFF certified. All in all, the kids were over-joyed by their experience! We thank the Staff of the Youth Center for their visit. It was a real treat to be apart of their experience. #RobinsProud

Reminder to NEVER try to extinguish an electrical firewith water The best way to put out an electrical fire is with a extinguisher. If you don’t have one, remember these key points, they can save your life:... 1. Water conducts electricity and could cause you could be electrocuted. 2. If you do not have an ABC extinguisher, you can use baking soda to extinguish an electrical fire. 3. If there’s smoke, fire or a strange odor coming from your appliances, wires or electric motors, you should turn off both the appliances and the circuit breaker or fuse box’s main switch. 4. Call 911 immediately and let them know you have an electrical emergency. See more
