Research shows that Bi-annual visits to the dentist will help prevent the need for extensive and expensive dental treatment. We just wanted to drop you a quick reminder to call and schedule an appointment with our office. Remember that we schedule our patients on a first come first serve basis, so the sooner you call to schedule your child’s appointment the better we can work around your schedule. You can reach the office at 770-651-1000 or by emailing us at [email protected]. The key to minimizing future dental problems is a periodic check-up. In this way we can detect and treat minor issues before they become major problems. So, please call our office at your earliest convenience. Thank you, Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics 770-651-1000 See more

Updated note to patients week of May 5th. We are excited to announce that our office will be doing a soft reopening on May 5, 2020 . To protect our patients and staff, we are asking that everyone remain in their car upon arrival. At that time, you will need to call or text us and check in (only the patient is allowed in the office unless there are special circumstances). We will take your temperature and have you use hand sanitizer. We are asking that all patients wear a ...mask into the office (please furnish your own mask, if possible; supplies are difficult for us to obtain). Restrooms will be closed, except for emergencies. We are practicing social distancing and following the CDC guidelines! Thank you in advance for your understanding and patience during this time of transition as appointment times and availability may be limited due to increased time needed for cleaning/disinfecting. We look forward to seeing all our patients again! Your dental team.

Did you know your dental benefits reset every year? It’s true. If your dental insurance plan, like most is on a calendar year, you will lose out on all unused benefits after December 31st. That means this is a great time of year to take advantage of everything your dental insurance provides, especially if you have outstanding treatments. Here are just a few of the services you want to use before you lose the opportunity. Routine Checkups... Many dental insurance plans provide coverage for two checkups a year at six-month intervals. So, if you haven’t had a cleaning in the last six months, now is an excellent time to schedule an appointment. Getting a regular checkup ensures your teeth and gums are in tip top shape, and gives your dentist a chance to review your oral health to make sure problems aren’t developing. Plus, you’ll get to enjoy a professionally cleaned and polished smile. Large Treatments If you need more extensive dental treatments involving multiple visits, the end of the year is the perfect time to get started. This is especially true if you’ve already met your deductible and haven’t hit your annual maximum. Once your deductible is paid, your out-of-pocket expenses can decrease dramatically, making it an ideal situation for larger dental treatments. If you’re getting close to your annual maximum, your dentist can help create a plan to maximize your benefits by splitting your treatment between this year and next, allowing you to use the benefits you have remaining this year and take advantage of your renewed benefits after the new year. Don’t let your 2020 dental benefits go to waste by making sure you use them before December 31. Schedule an appointment today to get started

Oral hygiene tips for Good Oral Hygiene When it comes to good oral hygiene, a preventive approach is the key to success. This is important at every state of life, but especially the older you get. Neglecting your dental health as you age can have serious consequences, including premature aging of the smile (gum recession and/or tooth discoloration) and the need for extensive and expensive corrective procedures. The good news is that if you follow the simple preventive habits ...listed below earlier in life, it can help avoid these consequences. Let’s start with effective oral hygiene instructions for adults with a few simple steps: *Brushing: To get the best oral hygiene results from toothbrushing, use an electric toothbrush. If you’re using a manual toothbrush, hold it at a 45-degree angle to your gums. Use short, circular strokes to move the brush over each tooth. Be sure you brush your teeth at least twice a day, including the front and back sides of all your upper and lower teeth. Take enough time to do a thorough jobup to 2 minutes each. Also, gently brush your tongue to remove odor-causing bacteria that will help give you fresher breath. Replace your toothbrush every three months. Watch out for over brushing, which may result in receding gums. *Flossing: One method that helps maintain oral hygiene by removing bacteria from areas between the teeth that are hard to reach by brushing alone is flossing. To floss your teeth, start with an 18-inch piece of floss, and wrap most of it around the middle finger of one hand. Wrap a small amount around the middle finger of the other hand. Move the floss carefully up and down between each tooth, and make a C-shape with the floss as you reach the gum line. As you move from tooth to tooth, unwind new floss from one hand and wind the used floss onto the other hand. *Rinsing: Rinsing with a mouthwash can get to places that your toothbrush and even the deep cleaning of floss can miss. Look for a mouthwash that contains fluoride, because fluoride is proven to strengthen enamel and fight cavities. In addition, a mouthwash such as Crest Pro-Health Advanced strengthens enamel, prevents cavities, and kills bad breath bacteria. A dental rinse is often recommended for additional oral hygiene if you wear braces. Prevent Poor Oral Hygiene Habits
