The Mayor of Savannah issued an emergency order today to start July 1 at 8:00 am that requires face coverings or masks in public until rescinded The order states: "All persons (over 10 years) entering commercial establishment in the City must wear a face covering or mask while inside the establishment." Not religious establishments... "All restaurants, retail stores, salons, grocery stores, and pharmacies must require employees to wear face covering at all times while having face-to-face interactions with the public" "Any person who is unable to safely wear a face covering due to age, an underlying health condition, or is unable to remove the face covering without assistance of others is exempt from this order" Not required in the following circumstances a. personal vehicles (does not specify if with others in the car or not) b. alone in enclosed spaces or with other household members c. during outdoor activity- if maintains a minimum of 6 feet for those you do not live with d. while eating, drinking, or smoking (hopefully you are not smoking use this time to reduce or stop smoking) e. if face covering causes or aggravates a health condition f. if would prevent you from getting personal services (I am thinking of a dental cleaning) g. if 10 years old or younger Civil infraction will be punishable by up to $500
