Yesterday, Upper School inducted twenty-eight new members into the National Honor Society. To qualify for NHS students must have a minimum 3.5 weight GPA, fulfill at least 1 leadership role within a school activity or in the community, consistently participate in community service (minimum of 10 hours/year), and have excellent character. Congratulations to these students for their hard work and dedication to their academic success!

Congratulations to the Raiderbots for winning the Lego Robotics region competition and advancing to the state competition! The team is made up of six fourth graders who competed against other teams of 4th -8th graders. The competition includes coding a Lego EV3 robot (that they design and build) to perform missions (that they build) on the field table, an innovation project, and core values poster. Great job, Raiderbots!

Today, our 5th graders visited P.A.C.K. (People of Action Caring for Kids) to help assemble weekend food bags for students in Savannah. P.A.C.K. delivers 10,000 bags of food each month to children in 37 local schools and community centers. The SCPS cross country team recently donated 680 pairs of socks and underwear to the Fostering Bulloch Hope Chest. The donation was made at the region meet on Tuesday where the girls' became region champs and boys took region runner up. #itsagreatdaytobearaider

Earlier today, SCPS Upper Schoolers joined with students from Savannah Country Day at P.A.C.K. to drop off collected donations and to wrap gifts. These donations will be given to Savannah area children in need this holiday season. A huge thank you to everyone who donated! #itsagreatdaytobearaider

Kindergarten classes learned all about how trees are used in the paper-making process! From breaking down tissue to separating and soaking up excess water using a screen, students experienced the entire paper-making process. Each student has a handmade piece of paper to show off! #itsagreatdaytobearaider

Students in Ms. Mercer's chemistry class combined art and chemistry in a two-part experiment to make their Christmas ornaments. Students removed the zinc coating off of their galvanized steel by conducting a single-replacement reaction with hydrochloric acid (which produced hydrogen bubbles) to expose the iron beneath. In the second reaction, the exposed iron reacted with a solution of acidified copper (II) sulfate pentahydrate. The copper replaced the iron in a single replacement reaction, which turned their designs a red-brown color! #itsagreatdaytobearaider
