Update on the gorillas: Dominant silverback, Twibuke, of Ntambara's group seems determined to keep his group up on the top of Mt. Bisoke. While the trek up to check them is tedious, our teams were paid off with a beautiful view including new mom Tegereza and her infant, born on 12/24, with crater lake in the background. : Samedi Jean Pierre Mucyo : Tegereza & Tegereza's Infant

Today on #Internationaldayofeducation we recognize the important role education plays in our ongoing conservation efforts. One of our key pillars is educating future conservationists and it is critical to our long term success. Educating our youth on the impact that gorilla conservation has, not only ensures a future for gorillas but also ensures a future for our planet and our future generations. #educationday : Cedric Ujeneza

Update on the gorillas: Female gorillas have a great ability to pick their partner and group they want to live in. If they aren’t happy they will move. This week had a great example of that as female gorilla Mudakama transferred groups, leaving silverback Kubona as a lone silverback and joining Mutobo’s group. There was no interaction between the two groups which means Mudakama joined Mutobo’s group when she left Kubona and walked to her new group on her own. : Laban Kayitete
