SPD EASTSIDE Precinct Officers Make Arrests in Multiple Residential Burglary Cases On 10/27 around 3:30 P.M., Eastside Precinct officers were dispatched to the Live Oak neighborhood in reference to three young males that were hanging around a residence. The resident stated that the males appeared to be casing her house as she arrived home, but they asked her if she wanted her grass cut when she confronted them. She also reported that the males were concealing their faces... and were being evasive with her. The resident felt that something was not right and contacted police. Due to multiple other reported residential burglaries in this neighborhood within just the last week where three males were listed as the suspects, multiple officers saturated the area and located the males in the 900 Block of East 34th Street in the Midtown neighborhood speaking with other individuals. Three males were immediately detained - two of them were 15-years-old and one was 19-years-old. Both 15-year-olds had firearms on their person when confronted by officers; both of the firearms were reported stolen from previous home break-ins. One of the males with whom the suspects were speaking was found to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest, so he was also detained. It should be noted that there were at least 6 other reported home break-ins in the Live Oak neighborhood and 3 home break-ins in the Midtown neighborhood. All three initial subjects were charged with multiple felonies and misdemeanors including Criminal Attempt to Commit Burglary, Burglary, Possession of a Firearm by a Minor, and Prowling. Both juveniles were transported to the Regional Youth Detention Center pending a court hearing and the adult was transported to the Chatham County Detention Center.
