Savannah Beach & Racquet Club on Tybee Island

It was quite a sight last evening when a shrimp boat was boarded by the Coast Guard for a routine check out in front of our pier. The dolphins put on quite a show around the shrimp boat for over an hour. I hope our residents and guests enjoyed the views!

Our thoughts are with all those in the path of Hurricane Laura. As island residents, we are familiar with that sickening feeling of leaving your home behind to evacuate and not knowing what you will have when you return. Possessions can be replaced, but lives cannot...

For those that like to play around in the dunes even though it is illegal to do so... you might want to re-think that!

Hopefully, you will be lucky enough to catch this sight from your balcony or while walking on the beach. If not, you might want to consider a dolphin tour!

Be careful of these jellies... but if you get stung, rub some wet sand on it to remove any remnants then head up to the pool where Mike and Matt have a vinegar spray mixture to help relieve the pain.

It is a beautiful, sunny, Sunday morning here on Tybee. However, we are now under a tropical storm warning. Conditions will start to deteriorate after midnight tonight according to the current forecast. We will be on the "better" side of the storm if it stays on its current track but we will still possibly see tropical storm wind gusts in excess of 40 miles per hour. Now is the time to bring your balcony furniture inside. If you have guests, please ask them to pull in th...e furniture tonight. After the pool closes at 6 pm this evening, we will be securing the pool furniture and umbrellas. The pool will not be open tomorrow (Monday) due to the storm conditions. It doesn't look like it will be much of a pool day, so this should not inconvenience anyone. IF the storm passes late Monday night / early Tuesday morning as predicted, the pool will re-open on schedule Tuesday at noon. That schedule may be adjusted according to conditions. Please make your guests aware. We will also turn off the entrance and exit gates this evening and secure them in an open position. They cannot operate correctly when they are fighting against strong winds or possible power outages. Stay safe!
