Weekend Update~ The BuckReport

Biggest buck of the weekend goes to Jack Walker! His words were perfect, so I copied them to share with you all: I’ve been deer hunting for 33 years and I killed my biggest buck to date opening afternoon. I honestly thought killing a 150 buck would be different. I thought it would feel different. I thought it would be the best thing ever! I thought only the best hunters kill the big bucks. Well let me tell ya after doing it that ain’t so. I almost have a hurt in my gut tha...t my little girl wasn’t with me and she couldn’t have been the one to pull the trigger. I’ve just realized the best part about deer hunting is time spent with your best buddies putting up deer stands, planting foodplots, mowing the roads, looking at trail camera pictures together, planning the hunt and making jokes about each other. It’s about watching my girls pick roots up out of foodplots, the Sunday afternoon rides to check cameras and put out corn with the girls. It’s about the sweet anticipation of that big buck walking out. It’s about time spent with family and friends. It’s about that first buddy you call when you make the shot or see a big buck and let him get by. Please don’t take deer hunting so dang serious! I’ve seen best friends and brothers relationships ruined over a dang deer! Cherish the times you get to spend with your family and friends in the woods because you never know when it will be your last. It’s not about the biggest or best buck. It’s about the biggest and best memories with those you love. See more

So excited for Sarah! Two great bow kills, & she won 1st & 2nd place in the Women's Division in the Big Buck Contest. She has a pretty great guide too! Jason is my buddy that has those 2 bow bucks in the shop on display this year. Together we hold the top 4 spots for Pope & Young for Telfair County. Sarah is trailing us hard!

What a unique doe kill by Zachary Shiver last night! They have watched her for 6 years. This full body mount will turn out beautiful!

Congratulations goes out to Hunter Balangero on his 1st deer & also to Mr. Warren Holt on his bow buck! This morning started out slow but 14 trickled in, & we tagged #18 to mount, which is a little ahead of our previous years numbers! Good luck the rest of the weekend! It was girls night tonight! Our Marianna killed a doe, & Emily Ott, 11 years old, killed her very 1st deer! What a nice buck! Congratulations!

3 years ago on this special week was when my 1st baby girl, Kaley, killed an elk hunting with her Papa Craig in Colorado! It now hangs in our shop on display! What great memories to cherish! Pass down your love for the great outdoors! We will help you preserve them forever!
