We are thankful to the Cobb Parks Department for inviting the South Cobb Lions Club to be a part of their Fall Festival on Halloween evening. Keep Cobb Beautiful collected household hazardous waste such as paint, weed killer and insecticide from over 1000 cars this morning. We really appreciate the help that we got from our brave friends in the police department and our friends from the Cobb County Water Department. The volunteers from the Water Dept dressed up in Halloween costumes. It was a fun and successful event.

The USDA Thursday night distribution location has been permanently changed to a drive through event at the First Christian Church Of Mableton (878 Old Alabama Road) to minimize the exposure to COVID-19. With Sweetwater Mission's help, we were able to provide 126 families with groceries, bread, pretzels, cereal, frozen chicken and hot meals on our first Thursday at our new venue. We also had fun as Ricky, a TN Vols fan, wore an Auburn shirt and Barry, an Auburn fan, wore an Alabama shirt because our college football teams lost.

This is just one of many "get out the vote" activities that they are initiating this week. Keep Cobb Beautiful sponsored today's Medication Disposal event whereby we collected expired medicine and vitamins from over 130 cars at the Freeman Poole Senior Center. This event keeps the drugs from being in the landfills and eventually getting into our soil and water.
