#repost @generationmindful It’s not about teaching our children NOT to be mad. It’s about teaching them HOW to be mad. Feeling mad is an important hu...man emotion. When it is suppressed, our kids grow into adults who don’t know how to feel, are scared to feel, suppress, or explode. When we teach skills for all emotional states, especially those unpleasant ones, our children grow into adults who feel and regulate. So, rather than teaching our children to bottle their emotions, we can empower them to move through them in healthy ways. This is a pretty tricky thing for those of us who were never taught safe emotional expression and regulation. The process of wiring feelings and regulation circuits is a daily lived experience, not a one-time checklist or perfect script. But we do have some tools. Here’s 5.
