The neighborhood will provide some pizza for the kids, festive party hats, non-alcoholic beverages and bubbles for toasting the New Year to complement the (mostly) potluck event. STAY VIGILANT- CARJACKING AT OUR PUBLIX SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- A trip to the grocery store turned into a terrifying ordeal for a shopper in Sandy Springs, as the woman became the victim of an armed carjacking. Police were dispatched to the store at 7736 Spalding Drive around 10:42 p.m. Aug. 1 in response to a call of a robbery.... The store is located at the corner of Spalding Drive and Holcomb Bridge Road at the tip of the Sandy Springs panhandle. The woman told police she was sitting in her 2005 Kia Sportage in the parking lot when she was approached by a man who pointed a gun at her and told her to get out of the vehicle, according to an incident report released by Sandy Springs police. However, the man told the woman to "drive, drive," and jumped into the rear driver's side seat. "As he was getting in the back seat, she opened her door and fell out of the vehicle," the report notes. The suspect, the report states, threatened to shoot her if she did not get back into the car. In turn, the woman pleaded for her life, ran towards the store and screamed for help. The suspect got into the driver's seat of the Kia and fled the scene. The victim told police she saw the suspect walk towards the grocery store entrance and ATM before the incident occurred. Inside the vehicle during the carjacking was the victim's Samsung Galaxy Note 4 cell phone and charger, groceries and a wallet containing her driver's license, Bank of American debit card, Capitol One debit card, Chase credit card and insurance cards. Police were able to track down the suspect, identified as 21-year-old Demtrius Shakur Chapman of Duluth, and charged him with theft by receiving. Sandy Springs Police Capt. Dear Friends, one of our own, Barbara Hubschman lost her beloved husband, Hal Hubschman last night. Hal was a longtime resident of Spalding Lake. Please keep Barb and their children in your thoughts and prayers. The memorial will be held Tuesday April 19th at 2:00 at Temple Sinai (5645 Dupree Drive NW Atlanta, Georgia 30327). Shiva will be held at the Hubschmans' house (7910 Fawndale Way Atlanta, Georgia 30350) Tuesday April 19th 7:00 pm and Wednesday April 20th 6:00 pm.

Kid Weekend Tennis Camps Two children's tennis camps have been scheduled for the weekends of Saturday April 30th and Saturday May 14th. Each camp will be both Saturday and Sunday and WILL be taught by USTPA certified professionals. All ages from 4 years up are welcome, as well as all skill levels.... We will need a committed payment prior to the camps to ensure we have enough pros and children to have the camps. Camp #1 - Saturday April 30th - Sunday April 31st Camp will operate from 9am to approximately 12pm both days. We may start earlier if we get a large turnout. Pricing: $45 for 5-6, $50 for 7-10, and $75 per weekend for 11+ year olds Each age group receives approximately 1-2 hours of instruction.
