Happy Halloween! Gallery Artist Ben Smith has been creating mysterious pictures for over 50 years! We recently acquired two of his archetypal large-scale woodblock prints Masquerader & Masquerader with Pig Mask, which are now available! His woodblock prints often feature shamans, wizards & ceremonial figures. The compositions include descriptive & lyrical line work contrasted by large bold shapes. The woodblock technique gives the printed area a beautiful textural quality.... It is not an easy feat to create such large-scale works using the woodblock technique! Ben no longer creates these works, but instead has turned his attention to smaller drawings, paintings, ceramics & teaching at the Chastain Arts Center. His works are included in the collections of the High Museum of Art, theBrooklyn Museum, Brooklyn, NY; Morris Museum, New Orleans, LA;University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY; andBrown University, Providence, RI. Stop by the gallery to experience these new acquisitions! #bensmith #largescalewoodblockprintmaking #worksonpaper #masquerader #startwiththeart #atlantaartist #happyhalloween See more

Carefully considering nature, science, technology & spirituality, Caroline Bullock creates mixed media abstract works that investigate the human relationship with the natural world. This work Beyond the Shoreline, is a metaphor for the unknown, inspired by a personal exploration to find inner peace during a difficult time. Photographer Rick Schwartz describes it well, The waters edge is like a boundary into another world. Looking out over the water can be like looking into... the unknown. Standing at the edge of what we know & gazing beyondwhen we choose to go beyond the shoreline we are choosing to go beyond what we know. Visually, Bullock's works often mimic the natural world. Swipe to view satellite images taken by NASA of shorelines & glaciers around the world. Can you see the relationship? #abstractart #artandscience #nasasatellite #mixedmedia #southernartist #artandspirituality #acpfest2020 #acpfest #cyanotype #heyartlover #onview #startwiththeart

SOLD! A group of three important linocuts by Pablo Picasso of his muse Jacqueline Roque! In addition to selling the best of contemporary art (especially Southeastern artists (particularly women!)), We also accept works on consignment. These linocuts feature Picasso’s second wife, Jacqueline Roque. Roque was one of Picasso’s infamous muses, & he created hundreds of portraits of her in every medium, from painting to ceramics to linocuts. A linocut is aprintmakingtechniquein which a design is cut into the linoleum surface, inked with a roller & then impressed onto paper or fabric. Picasso embraced this technique late in his career revolutionizing the process by using the same block for all the colors. If you are looking to sell a work of art, contact us to discuss your options.

Much is missed if we have eyes only for the bright colors. Nature should be viewed without distinction She makes no choice herself; everything that happens has equal significance. Nothing can be dispensed with. This is a common mistake that many people make: They think that half of nature can be destroyed the uncomfortable half while still retaining the acceptable and the pleasing side.
