Did you know today is National Candy Day? What a fun way to incorporate all of that leftover Halloween candy into some fun language building activities. 1) Have your child choose 1 piece of Halloween candy without letting you see it. Ask them to describe it by attribute until you can guess the candy! ... 2) Sort your candies into different groups based on color, size, genre, or even ingredients. 3) If you've already eaten all of your candy but have Candy Land in your closet, you can work on turn taking, identifying colors, following directions, and sportsmanship while playing the game! Enjoy this sweet & fun day! #pediatrictherapy #speechtherapy #physicaltherapy #occupationaltherapy

Use the AAC system to talk yourself (model language) Aim high Use a well designed, comprehensive vocabulary Provide enough wait time Ask open ended questions... Expect the AAC user to communicate without modeling how Demand prerequisite skills Provide an AAC system with only a handful of choices Do all the talking Ask questions the AAC user knows you already know the answers to October is AAC Awareness Month. Please keep these do’s and dont’s in mind when working with and communicating with an AAC user. PLEASE VOTE DAILY through the end of October to help keep us the Best of Forsyth!
