Here's some election news you may have missed -- an Episcopal priest in the Diocese of Atlanta has been elected to the Georgia Senate! Kim Jackson, 35, is a woman, a person of color, and a proud lesbian. Now, she becomes Georgia's first-ever LGBTQ+ state senator. She's an Episcopal priest with ten years of ministry. She currently serves as vicar of Church of the Common Ground, a church-without-walls that focuses on serving Atlanta's homeless population. A key campaign prom...ise -- to propose a "comprehensive anti-discrimination bill," which would include sexual orientation, gender, religion and ability. Also critical parts of Jackson's platform -- reducing incarceration rates, increasing affordable housing, stricter gun laws, and creating a better quality of living for Georgia's most marginalized citizens -- with more accessible childcare, Medicaid expansion, and upping the minimium wage. Jackson won Senate District 41 in Stone Mountain, with an incredible 79% of the vote. She lives in Stone Mountain with her spouse, where they are urban farmers. Congratulations, Mother Kim! What did I love about St Bart’s this past week? On Wednesday morning (the day after the election), I took my kids for a hike along a lake at Stone Mountain park, gaining some healthy perspective from the water and the land. On Wednesday evening, as I was anxiously refreshing the election map every two minutes, my son attended Zoom treble choir practice with St. Bart’s Director of Music Stephen Frketic. Over supper, he talked excitedly about how Mr. Stephen had shared videos ...of different choirs performing the Middle English hymn Adam lay ybounden," led the choristers in a discussion comparing the different performance styles, and coached them in learning the 600-year-old tune. As he does every week, Stephen gave his students (and their parents!) some healthy perspective that night, along with a stellar online music education. Thank you, Stephen! Mandy Suhr-Sytsma

I was blessed to be introduced to the Anglican Rosary through a St. Bartholomew’s annual retreat. It has deeply enhanced my prayer life to compose and pray Anglican Rosaries from elements in Scripture, The Book of Common Prayer and the wider tradition. I am happy to share resources! Ken Cribbs

Sorry, we can't get the live-stream working today. Please join us on Zoom (link available upon request). We are using a collection of home computers and occasionally weak Internet streams to bring you the service and the pieces don't always fall into place!

By the way, the virtual choir in the video (click to watch it) performed during Easter services this year at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.

On All Saints' Sunday, a new piece of artwork was dedicated in memory of our former deacon, The Ven. Charles E. Gearing. It was presented by the donors, his daughters Marla, Mandy, and Melanie. The piece was created by Serge Jolimeau, Haiti's most celebrated contemporary cut-metal sculptor. It was chosen in homage to one of Charlie's many passions: the ministry between St. Bartholomew's and our companion parish, St. Marc's Episcopal Church and School in Bois Blanc, Haiti, which was established in 2006. The sculpture was placed in the outer narthex across from the library and behind the greeters' podium. Depicting the parable of the lost sheep, it reminds us of our own mission and also the sound of Charlie's energetic dismissal every Sunday of "Go in peace, to love and serve the Lord!"
