Congratulations to our client on the new Howell School project in Dothan, Alabama! This ribbon cutting celebrates the restoration and adaptive reuse of this significant historical structure (listed on the National Register of Historic Places). The building served as a grammar school in 1902, and will now provide apartment housing for seniors.

What a transformation! This incredible adaptive re-use and rehabilitation project was recently completed in Dothan, Alabama. The historic photo shows the structure (used as a grammar school) being built around 1902. The building was used as an industrial plant from 1947 to 1997. In more recent years, the building had been abandoned and neglected; however, it had great potential. Through a developer driven project, the building has been totally restored and now provides multi-family, affordable housing to seniors.

The Vallihi project is a developer driven project for the rehabilitation and adaptive reuse of the old Fort Valley High School. Located in the Everett Square National Historic District in Fort Valley, Georgia, the building had been abandoned for 45 years. When the project is complete, the building will become affordable housing apartments for seniors. The project is being historically documented and is following requirements of the National Park Service for historic properties. It also is EarthCraft certified for sustainability. Nearly 10 acres of surrounding property provide a great outdoor space for residents. The Studio 8 Affordable Housing Design Team is working with the developer to make this a great place to live in Fort Valley!
