Hey everyone...check out the beta website we're building. FB isn't our go-to platform for social media engagement but we will do better about sending out some news from time to time. We've reduced our product line and focus more on commercial work, but are not beginning to actively promote and take orders for our partnership with Aymae Chile. It's a work in progress but would love your feedback. Later in the summer we hope to engage a web designer to bring the site, and our message, to the next level. www.peglegstudio.com

Chile diary: this has been in the works since I got here Tuesday morning. How about my first impressions of Chile? It’s not as foreign as I thought it would be. The people have all been very friendly and accommodating, though few speak English. Among educated folks English is common. As for the Spanish spoken here, it rolls off the tongue like staccato bursts of syllables with the occasional word, or portion of a word, literally being swallowed in the act of pronunciatio...Continue reading

Here's the latest folks: I'm staying in the vineyard country south of Santiago in Paine. Outside this wonderful cabin I'm staying in is an avocado grove, and the hills behind smell of wild eucalyptus. Climbing through the hills there are old olive groves, trails...and more rabbits than any other place I've seen in my life. YLAI is officially underway.

Hey nerds, here’s a point to ponder: When is an old something no longer authentic? What if this something has been touched, maintained, adjusted, repaired? Consider the Ship of Theseus. http://ow.ly/GWTA30aVNCE

I’ve been absent as of late. I apologize. Keeping pace with the world online is something I try to avoid. It’s not smug, at least in my view. I see it as a stop against anxiety caused by distraction. Like a subway, and sometimes you get off at the wrong platform. I'll be sharing some of travels this week. Standby.

Since huge wooden structures have been a fascinating rabbit hole for me to crawl around in...here's one that will cause you to scratch your head! The Parasol of Seville Spain...because.....why not? I'll let Jurgen Mayer do the splaining. http://ow.ly/t0TF309EDnS

One of the worlds largest wooden structures was built to study nuclear war. Funny thing about testing the impact of EMPs on aircraft is: 1) aircraft and gravity and EMPs (electromagnetic pulses) don't bode well for test pilots. 2) Metal testing components can complicate EMP tests as they relate to aircraft. Solution? Build one of the largest wooden structures in the world with as little metal as possible high enough off the ground to simulate EMP effects on flying aircraft. Oh....and that 12 story wooden platform better be able to have a B52 parked on it. Meet THE TRESTLE at Kirtland Air Force Base. Enjoy nerds. http://ow.ly/ejRn309ED9O

Trail trees? What do you think? Anomaly? Intentional Native American manipulation? I've seen trees like this, but I had no idea what they might be. I thought they were just shaped weird because....well....give nature enough time and enough individuals to experiment with and something like this is bound to happen, right? Maybe not...maybe there is intent here. Maybe this intent is all over the country and we're just now coming to realize it. I spend a lot of time wandering in the woods and I never get tired of looking at the world around me. Here's an adventure we can all share the next time we walk in the woods. http://ow.ly/VWl8309ECLB

The American Chestnut. Want to go on a snipe hunt? Find a mature, blooming American Chestnut. The Chestnut Society did, and found one. In any population there will always be outliers, and in Maine there is a Chestnut tree that not only resisted the blight, but gives our forests hope that generations to come will experience something you and I never will, the white blooming flowers of the chestnut tree covering the hillsides of the Appalachians like snow. http://ow.ly/nt6s309ECaG

Nerd double feature today: the Westminster Hall hammer beam roof. I read a story of WWII where fire fighters during the blitz were faced with a choice, save the roof of the hall and Westminster Abbey and let the other parts of parliament burn. The hammer beam roof survived. This quick little read gives a little perspective to this magnificent construction. Check out pictures of this online, it's breathtaking to behold. http://ow.ly/RK6K309EDKJ
