Merry Christmas! We are thankful for your continued support this year. 2020 has been a crazy year! We at the swan want to give back to our customers and community. Here’s your Christmas present: We will host 2 weekends of free movies! Showing December 11th-13th: Single Feature A Christmas Story, Rated PG Showtime: 7 PM... Showing December 18th-20th: Single Feature The Polar Express, Rated G Showtime: 7 PM The admission is totally free! However, we are encouraging everyone to bring non-perishable food items to the theatre to be donated to a local food bank. It’s not required, but greatly appreciated. Hey there! It's Steven here, and I wanted to let y'all know of an opportunity that I have been given by the owners (my grandparents) of The Swan. As many of y'all know, I will be leaving for college in early August, and plan to go to The University of North Georgia to study Film and Digital Media with a concentration in production. I will be selling exclusive screen advertising for our theatre, and the commission that I make off of every ad sold will go towards my college fund. I have been given the green light for ten 20 second still image ads. These will play every time there is a movie shown at the theatre. Just a reminder of the updated rules are below. Everyone must stay at their vehicle. You cannot leave your vehicle and join with another even if you came as a group. The playground area is closed.... Concession Items will be limited. All vehicles must park in the middle between posts, which causes our parking capacity to be cut in half so please come early. The Box Office Will Open By 7PM. We. Are. Back! Governor Kemp has issued a clarification about drive-in theaters being open during the Shelter In Place Order from Covid-19. We will have to adhere to all of the Social Distancing Rules that we had put into place as well as a few new ones. Restrooms can have only one person in them at a time. All employees will be monitored for sickness and shifts will be staggered where possible. Everyone must stay at their vehicle. The playground area is closed. Concession It...ems will be limited. Thank you to everyone who came to the free graduation celebration showing at the theatre this weekend. It meant a lot to me to see all of the people that have w...atched me grow up at the theatre over the years. I feel very honored to have been given a weekend like this to celebrate my graduation. A special thanks to all of those who left me cards and graduation gifts & donations. For those of you who don’t know, I’ve grown up at the theatre like it was my 2nd home. When I was just a baby, I sat in the ticket office in an infant carrier with my mom as she sold tickets. As I got a little older, I got to move into the big leagues - the concession stand. I sat at the end of the counter and shook hands with every person that came through the counter and met them. A few years later, My grandpa taught me to play guitar, and when I was 7 years old I got to sit on the bench in the concession stand and played guitar with my case open for people to give me tips. I felt like the coolest kid in town! Time progressed, and when I got a little older I started pouring drinks behind the counter. I got to learn all about the concession stand and eventually learned to make all of the food. People still come in today and request for me to come in and make their Mayor Burgers. In 2017, I moved outside, and I have spent my time since riding around the field assisting people as needed. The drive in is my home, and will always be. In August, I am going off to college at the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega to study Film and Digital Media with a concentration in production. I hope to eventually work in the movie production industry in Atlanta. See more

The box office is scheduled to open at 7PM, but we will have to open early if the lines are in the road. We also have a limited number of available spaces due to our social distancing guidelines. Saturday, due to the extraordinary demand for Drive In theatre entertainment at this time, we ran out of parking spaces. Due to this, we have decided to open the theatre 3/23-3/26, Monday through Thursday, playing one show only. Monday-Thursday | Showtime 8PM Onward - PG ...Next week’s schedule will be determined at a later date. We have confirmed that I Still Believe will open This Friday, 3/27. We do not have any information on a second feature yet. Your safety from COVID-19 will continue to be our #1 priority. Need to get out of the house? The Swan Drive-In Theatre will be open this weekend with adjusted rules and procedures. Please read them below: 1) All vehicles will be required to park in the middle of the two posts to accommodate social distancing. 2) We will have a limited concession menu, offering only Coca Cola products, boxed/bagged candy, popcorn, and nachos to limit the amount of time spent waiting.... 3) Customers will be allowed into the concession stand one group at a time. This will also accommodate social distancing. The ticket office attendant will also sanatize hands between each customer, and there will only be one person in the concession stand accepting money, having a devoted task to only handling money. As always, employees who are sick WILL NOT be allowed to report to work under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Our number one priority is the safety of our customers. These rules and regulations will remain in effect until further notice. We hope that with our alternative movie viewing experience, we are able to continue to provide a fun, family-friendly night out of the house for everyone even during these difficult times. The Swan Drive In Theatre was opened in summer of 1955. Downtown, next to The Rexall, was a house cinema named The Rialto. The Rialto was opened in 1947. Pictured below are two old show calendars that have recently been discovered from October of 1955 and December of 1955. These calendars would show what was playing at the cinemas for the whole month. This was during a time when home entertainment was mainly only through radio, because of the price and availability of televis...ion. Because of this (and film company regulations), movies changed much more often. The price of admission in these days is estimated to be ~.25 per person. You may notice that it says $50.00 cash night every Thursday. This is when The Swan hosted bingo night and that was the jackpot. You may also notice that it says the movies were shown with Fabulous Technicolor. This was a form of color that allowed certain tones to show up differently than others, but is not comparable to color today. The Rialto burned down in 1963 partially, and has since been converted to retail stores. The Swan Drive In is still in operation, and still shows movies. Here at the swan, we serve a burger called the Mayor Burger. It comes with 2 pieces of meat and 3 pieces of cheese, as well as 11 toppings . This mayor of all burgers stands over 7 inches tall. Pictured is Billy Fisher who is very excited about his burger.
