This week for #TemperanceTuesday we celebrate Astronomy Day by giving you lovely classic cocktail with a galactic twist! The Aviation originated in the early 1900's, but it's lovely and unusual flavor and color make it perfect for introducing a retro-modern feel to your celebrations! Ingredients... 2 ounces gin 1/4 ounce maraschino liqueur 1/4 ounce crème de violette 1/2 ounce lemon juice (fresh) Garnish: flamed lemon peel Optional: food-safe glitter Directions: Gather the ingredients. Pour the gin, liqueurs, and lemon juice into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Raspberry Clover Club Cocktail INGREDIENTS... 4 ounces gin 1 lemon - juiced 4 ounces raspberry simple syrup 1 egg white fresh raspberries to garnish INSTRUCTIONS Place gin, lemon juice, simple syrup and egg white into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously until egg whites are foamy. Strain into a martini glass. Garnish with fresh raspberries. Serve immediately. In honor of #TemperanceTuesday and it also being National Coffee Day, how about we enjoy the cooler temperatures with a nice Irish Coffee? INGREDIENTS Irish whiskey Coffee... Brown sugar Whipped cream METHOD 1. Heat your glass with some boiling water. Make sure you have a metal spoon in the glass when adding the boiling water to prevent the glass from cracking. Heating the glass keeps your Irish Coffee warm for longer so you can savour the momentmmm 2. Pour in a measure of Irish whiskey 3. Add some coffee (if you are making an Irish Coffee at home you may need to add the coffee granules and some boiling water too) 4. Add in a spoonful of sugar. Make sure the sugar is mixed into the coffee well. Check the bottom of the glass to make sure there on no granules left at the bottom and now add the cream 5. Whisk some cream in a bowl. Don’t whisk the cream too stiffly or you won’t be able to pour it. 6. Turn a spoon upside down and place the tip of the spoon inside the coffee glass just on top of the coffee making sure that the edge of the spoon is touching the glass 7. Now slowly pour the whipped cream over the spoon. It should flow over the top of the spoon and land softly on top of the coffee. When you pour the cream gently it ensures that it doesn’t sink into the coffee 8. Sprinkle some chocolate on top of the cream 9. Find a cosy seat beside a warm fire on a winters day 10. For this #TemperanceTuesday, how about we celebrate the cooler days of autumn with some Apple Pie Moonshine? INGREDIENTS 4 c. apple juice 4 c. apple cider... 3/4 c. granulated sugar 1/4 c. packed brown sugar 2 cinnamon sticks 1/2 tsp. ground ginger 1/2 tsp. allspice 3/4 c. 190 proof grain alcohol 3/4 c. vodka DIRECTIONS In a large pot over medium-high heat, combine apple juice, cider, sugars, cinnamon sticks, and spices. Bring to a simmer, then cover pot with lid and reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer for 1 hour then remove from heat and let cool. Remove cinnamon sticks and stir in grain alcohol and vodka. Transfer to jars or bottles. Saturday is Chocolate Milkshake Day, so how about celebrating with the most fabulous boozy chocolate milkshake ever - a Frozen Mudslide! Ingredients 3 cups vanilla ice cream... 3 cups chocolate ice cream 1/2 cup Baileys Irish Cream 1/3 cup Kahlua 1/3 cup vodka Instructions Put the ice cream into the blender. Pour the three different liquors over the ice cream. Blend to combine and pour into freezer containers. Let freeze for four hours. Garnish with whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and cherries. This #TemperanceTuesday is also Pardon Day, a great day to ask forgiveness from friends and family. One way to ask forgiveness is to give them a spicy, sweet Beg Your Pardon Swizzle! This summertime swizzle gets a peppery perk thanks to a splash of jalapeño-infused green Chartreuse. oz. silver cachaça... oz. jalapeño-infused green Chartreuse oz. pineapple juice oz. fresh lime juice 3 sprigs of fresh cilantro Tools: mixing tin, muddler, fine-strainer, swizzle stick Glass: highball Garnish: 2 dashes Peychaud’s bitters and fresh cilantro sprig Combine all ingredients in a mixing tin and gently muddle. Fine-strain into a highball glass and swizzle with crushed ice. Top with additional crushed ice to fill glass and garnish. JALAPEÑO-INFUSED GREEN CHARTREUSE: Infuse one chopped jalapeño (remove the seeds if you don’t want it to be too spicy) in one 750-ml. bottle for 24 hours. Strain into a clean glass jar and use within 2 months.
