Finished the special cover for Upshot Studio (AWA Studios). Very therapeutic just watching the lines flow out of my pen and listening to "Rocky Horror Picture Show" soundtrack and "Meatloaf's Bat Out Of Hell" album. I'll post the full image when AWA Studios release the full image.

Somebody brought up Bernie Wrightson’s Frankenstein art last week, and I didn’t get time to properly discuss it. This incredible collection of art really shocke...d me when I first saw it in 1983. The technique Wrightson used totally changed my perceptions on every aspect of inking, especially shading and gradations using only black ink. Every artist should seriously consider studying this work at some point in their career. To give the artwork an antiquated feel, Wrightson synthesized modern crosshatching with controlled line width to emulate this old-world engraving/wood cut look. If you zoom in close on the scene of Frankenstein and the monster in the lab, you’ll see that those transparent beakers and tubes are all created with nothing but varying linewidths. This is back in the early 80sNo computer to fix any mistakes and you can just see the potential for hundreds of mistakes on these illustrations! Anyway, as an artist, I find this series of drawings to be one of the most courageous projects ever undertaken. Bernie must have really loved Frankenstein. See more
