The Boy Scouts of America have hired lobbyists to defeat the Hidden Predator Act. The BSA currently employs at least 3 lobbyists in Georgia, including ED LINDS...EY, who they each pay at least $10,000 to lobby against laws that would assist victims of their conspiracy of silence. Other groups actively lobbying against HB 605 include: Denton's law firm/Boy Scouts of America Georgia Chamber of Commerce (GCC) National Federation of Independent Business(NFIB). Natalie and I will never stop fighting for Robb, who was molested by a man known to those in charge as a serial child rapist. We are not afraid. Shame on the Boy Scouts, who continue to this day to ignore victims of their leaders' abuse and block access to their files. Pretty sure these are not the character qualities Scouts are to emulate. PLEASE SHARE THAT JULY 1, 2017 is the last day of the statute of limitations for old abuse. There are many good lawyers fighting this fight. Call one.

Left the Charlotte Ritz Carlton at 5am to drive to Atlanta for a 10am hearing to secure the release of an innocent client from pretrial detention set for trial on Monday but DISMISSED BY THE JUDGE upon defense motion. Worth every moment of the 500+ miles driven to and fro in last 22 hours. Thanks to Victoria Brunner who was on standby to fill in if traffic prevented me from appearing and to Rachel Newbill for arranging our client's family to be present. There are few better feelings than a hug from a grateful client.

The look of a happy client and his family after obtaining a $2,500,000 verdict in Walton County. Bruce Hagen, Esther Panitch and Jim Hodes couldn't be happier for our well deserving client, DeKalb Police Officer Daniel LaCoste, who was run over by a driver while Danny was working the scene of another accident. Happened July 17, 2011 and State Farm (his own insurance) refused to pay. Next up: the bad faith claim.

Tomorrow morning begins the first of 2 jury trials in the next three weeks for me. In one of the few breaks I took yesterday, I listened to Episode 8 of AJC's Breakdown Series (season 2) about the Ross Harris trial. While I was in Brunswick, Bill Rankin was kind enough to invite me to geek out about the importance of jury selection, despite its apparent drudgery. My favorite parts? When I channelled my Torts professor, Claude Sowle(may he and Katie RIP) who taught Sectio...n B the proper pronounciation of the word "err" and that Bill said "Panitch says it right" to those 2.5 million or so that have downloaded the podcast. Since tomorrow's trial is a tort case, I'm hoping for Prof Sowle's spirit to stay with me this week in Walton county. Now, back to my day job. Greetings from rainy Brunswick, GA! I'm here covering/consulting/legal "expertising" the Ross Harris trial for WSB-TV. In college, one of my major's was Broadcasting at "The U." I never thought I would actually use the skills on TV. I went to law school and became a trial lawyer. Which I LOVE.... Many years later, I was 30 weeks pregnant on bed rest, and the only channel I could stomach watching on my left side that wouldn't raise my preeclamptic blood pressure higher was Court TV. I knew that I could do what those legal analysts were doing. And now I'm doing it. Bucket list checked!
